Sigh...
I used to like this band. But now they're shit. The last album was boring but not too bad, this one is unbearable. That dubfuckstep piece of shit single makes me wanna puke.
I'll say it again, real shame, cause I really liked their first 3-4 records.

Seriously, a friend tried defending this and I called him dumb. End of story.

I used to love them too.

First 3 records are all completely great with Absolution being damn near a masterpiece. 4th one was good, there were a few highlights in particular (knights of cydonia, supermassive black hole), but they had started to go downhill already.

5th one was a big disappointment. That fucking pop track? Track 3? Jesus Christ, what the fuck was that shit? There were still some good tracks on it though, so I just barely managed to maintain a passable opinion of them based on those.

I haven't even listened to this one because I've read all the press and I just decided I didn't want to lessen my opinion of the band further. RIP Muse, may all your money serve you well in the next life.

What I was thinking.
I could not force myself to listen this album till the end, but as long as the kids nowadays are happy.

Pretty much. Did listen to the new album since the single was mindlessly catchy, but it's just boring. Realised how inferior they are to Radiohead too, which put me off a fair bit of their backlog. Knights of Cydonia is still an ace song, however.

Too much ambition, not enough intelligence to deliver it.

I remember the first time I did parachutes I got really messed up and sat in my buddies moms SUV with heated seats. He put Muse on and turned the heat on. I can not explain what I was feeling in words. I was in a different realm.

Muse were a lot better when they emulated Radiohead.

Kids nowadays like dubstep much more than say, progressive/arty rock Muse used to play.

My GF got me into Muse and I've only heard 2nd Law and The Resistance .. and I really do love them so far. I personally think Madness is a brilliant single. I would almost peg them now as the new Depeche Mode rather than the new Radiohead but there are so many influences.

Basically my position is that there are far, far worse bands to listen together with your GF .. although I find myself listening to it alone as well

Absolution is their best album. And really the only thing of theirs worth listening to in my book.

Give me Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry and Blackholes and Revelations, and you can keep the rest.
