I like old Metallica.... sometimes. Has anybody seen "Some Kind of Monster?" They are a bunch of babies on that show. Even Mustaine looks like he is about to cry. I thought that movie was pretty damn funny. They recorded "St. Anger" when the film was shot. So you actually get to see how one of the shitties albums is made. |

I am one of the very very few metal fans of my generation who does now, and has all along, regarded Metallica to be totally fucking boring. |

early metallica (the first 4 albums) are brilliant, well, ok, the first one is just allright, but anyways it gets boring during the black album and after that becomes complete crap. |

First 4 albums are awesome. Black Album is ok. Load and Reload have a a few songs between them that are kinda cool. St Anger sucks. |

First two albums (especially RTL) were great, MOP was good, ...And Justice average, The Black Album shitty, and then it just went down from there to culminate into a shitty album that happened to be really, really shitty. And Metallica aren't coming back. And I can't say I'd really care if they did. They're overrated as hell, and I would much rather hear the new Heathen of Dark Angel album. |

1983 - 1988 Metallica is excellent (though I personally never cared for Ride The Lightning much - that's just me though, almost EVERY Metallica fan disagrees!). The Black Album was cool the first few times, but it does get old after a while. I really feel only seven of its twelve songs (Enter Sandman, Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam, Nothing Else Matters, Of Wolf And Man, The God That Failed, and Struggle Within) are really worth listening to. The rest is mediocre filler (Holier Than Thou) or crap (The Unforgiven - I don't care what everybody else says, I hate that song). Load and ReLoad are actually very good rock albums, better than The Black Album, and IMO don't deserve a lot of the negative feedback they get. Yeah, Metallica basically sounds like a completely different band from Master of Puppets, but hey, they have every right to gain new musical influences and change if it's in their hearts. I mean did you honestly think they were going to do another Master Of Puppets after the success of The Black Album? St. Anger isn't THAT terrible (not as bad as they say it is), but it's certainly Metallica's weakest link. There are some good riffs here or there and it IS a step in the right direction for the band. If they just kept Kirk Hammett's solos and trimmed the songs about 30% they may have actually had a pretty decent modern metal album. but I certainly wouldn't recommend it until you've already bought Metallica's previous seven albums. Get Garage, Inc. and S&M for their novelty value. Listen to their MI2 soundtrack song I Disappear if you're curious. And avoid their Ja Rule collaboration We Did It Again. Those are my thoughts on Metallica overall. Hope that helped. |

Eh, something about them always seemed a little manufactured. Almost as if the songs where just bits and pieces then put together in the editing room. Anyway, KEA and RTL still hold up, MOP is boring, AJFA is kinda lame and sounds forced and after that forget about it. There was, and still are, better Thrash bands out there. I've always seen them as a joke and they seem intent on proving me right these days. I don't blame Jason for walking out one bit, nor do I blame him for riding the money train that is Metallica as he is set for life from it. Rob Trujillio got paid $1 Million up front to do the Anger tour and the man deserves every penny as he is one of the best and underrated bassists out there. |

that's exactly what they did from their begining to 1996.... dunno if they changed their way since that but if they did, I strongly wish theu go back to the old method... |
