Post subject: New Guns 'N Roses song released to radio airwaves
PostPosted: Fri Oct 24, 2008 10:28 pm
Yes, it's true. After 11+ year, Axl Rose has set a release date for Chinese Democracy (November 23) and the title track can now be heard on the radio and streamed on the internet. Don't get your hopes too high about him keeping it, though. Here's the news article:

http://www.spinner.com/2008/10/22/guns- ... 1200687002

And here's the actual song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQQ5-8ctG4c

By the way, if CD (heh heh) IS in fact released next month, what will happen to that old parody review here on Metalreviews?

Haha the chorus sounds like nu-metal, and in the verses Axl sounds so whiny and nasal lol.

This is horrible haha

most. over-rated. band. ever.

Crap.
Neither Slash or Izzy could save this.

Why do I get the feeling people are deliberately giving this song a hard time?

Anyway, I think it's okay. Certainly not worth the 11+ year wait, but a fun song nonetheless....

It'll get rave reviews regardless of how it sounds. I refuse to listen to this, actually. Rubbish band.

Velvet Revolver are much better. *ducks*

On a side note, I heard there will be a special Limited Edition version of Chinese Democracy with the full version of Duke Nukem Forever as a bonus disk.

Haha... I really have no hopes for that. Long-delayed games tend to be dreadful, or at least very poor in comparison to the good ones: Daikatana, Prey etc?

I think the other songs are better. E.g. "Street Of Dreams" aka The Blues was sounding very good on their live performances.

I don't get that feeling at all. It sounds like Axl doing his best impersonation of modern Rock radio with a little bit of Industrial thrown in there, because Chris Vrenna is hanging around, so why not throw in some NIN rip offs.

This sounds nothing like GNR, nor does it sound like a natural progression of the sound. It sounds like what it exactly is, Axl with a bunch of hired guns trying to breathe life into a career that died years ago. Had Axl not sung on this album, it would blend into the sea of Seether and the likes. Nobodies going to be playing this generic crap 20 years from now the way people still listen to Appetite and Use Your Illusion to this very day.

And frankly, this whole notion that people don't like it just because Axl is a dick is silly. Everybody knew Axl was a dick back then, but the key difference being that he made good, if overrated, music.

Oh I agree... Much better! GnR has a few classic tunes though...

I must be strange or weird (at least compared to the rest of you) but I actually liked this single a lot! I don't know why, maybe I was subconsciously afraid it would be too bad and I was pleasantly surprised after listening to it. Hhhm now I'm a bit excited about this new album!

I for one am shocked by this unexpected turn of events. Where are the death metal growls that we've all come to love from the man?

This song is just average, kinda makes sense as the first single because its a basic straight ahead rocker, but there's much better songs from the album leaked so far.

"Better" is an absolute gem and "There Was A Time" is fantastic too.

I even heard some Nickelback in there....*shudders*

Also whoever said OMG where are the death metal grunts, this sounds way more nasal and whiny than other Guns n Roses. This sounds just retarded.

In this song (CD) is just too much industrial and too less just simple rock guitars. With Slash it would sound much more different. And, by the way, with Scott Weiland away, why just doesn't Slash hire Axl for Velvet Revolver?

It's not a classic, but it's not complete crap. It's got a decent bass riff going. It sort of rocks actually.
