I had never payed much attention to this band, but tonight my friend had an extra ticket to an extremely awesome Genesis cover band (The Musical Box) who played the entire The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album and a few other songs, and all I can say is that this is fucking amazing music! Does anyone have any reccomendations for other great Genesis albums besides Lamb, or does anyone here like them at all?

I think all Genesis from Tresspass to Wind and Wuthering are good :
- Trespass 1970 : their second album but the first one on which the band started playing their real musical recipe... no Phil Collins on drums or Steve Hackett on guitar but still a very fine album 80/100
- Nursery Cryme 1971 : first album with the classic line-up and the band gets better ! 85/100
- Foxtrot 1972 : contains the super long song 'Supper's Ready' and a bunch of other good or great songs. it still gets better than the previous album 90/100
- Selling England by the Pound 1973 : my fav' with The Lamb and an almost flawless album (just the 3mn song sang by Collins, More Fool Me, bores me) 95/100
- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 1974 : classic ! the best concept album in the whole rock history imho 95/100
- A Trick of the Tail 1976 : first album without Peter Gabriel singing... Collins does a great job replacing PG and it's another classic album with nothing but good songs and great musicianship on it 90/100
- Wind and Wuthering 1976 : the last great Genesis album... the last with guitar maestro Steve Hackett... almost as good as their previous but it also contains hints of what was going to happen to the band : joining mainstream :( still, a very good album worth checking ! 90/100

and you are right, The Musical Box are awesome... Peter Gabriel even said they are a better live band than Genesis was back in the early/mid 70's :shock:

TIE got it, although I prefer Foxtrot to the Lamb personally. I don't give as much credit to the albums without Peter Gabriel, but they're still relatively inspired.

Get 'em Out by Friday from Foxtrot is mindblowing, which is funny, because at that point you're yet to reach the 25 minute song..

so, next is
- And Then They were Three (1978) : it's a not a bad album but you can tell the virtuoso axeman (aka Hackett) is gone and it shows... still, some good songs but the band is turning mainstream which is never the best option for a prog band... still a much better album than its usual reputation says. 75/100
- Duke (1980) : I have a problem with the production on this album... it misses the organic Genesis sound to favour a more radio friendly atmosphere... some good songs but an overall disappointing effort 55/100
- Abacab (1981) : much better despite containing the best 80's Genesis can offer but also the worst (Who Dunnit). Yet, much better than Duke... the song Dodo/Lurker is a modern prog classic... 70/100
- Genesis (1983) : half the songs are good adult mainstream rock with progressive elements thrown in the mix, the over half is either decent adult pop or crappy adult pop... not bad but you can tell the band not going the right way... 60/100
- Invisible Touch (1986) : IMO, the worst from Genesis... crappy MTV production, crappy catchy songs, not much to say except forget this album ! 35/100
- We Can't Dance (1991) : some good songs and definitely a much better produced (more organic) album than Invisible Touch was... but... too many crappy sugarful songs and lacrimal balads... the thing being a little more than half of the songs are good, the singles are pretty efficient... not great but quite good... 65/100
- Calling All Stations (1997) : With Phil Collins gone, Genesis recruted Ray Wilson (from Stiltskin of Levis commercial fame)... the result is good but the production tends too be too radio friendly... it's still more progressive than any other 80's Genesis album and contains great drum preformances from 2 different drummers (incl. Spock's Beard's drummer)... not a classic, but a fairly good result from such an old band... give this album a try ! 70/100

Another question, folks. At the end of The Musical Box show, for the encore they played this really awesome song, which I want to know the name of. I can't really describe the music, but during the song the singer (à la Peter Gabriel) was wearing this mask with one eye on it, and the images in the back of the stage were all eyes, so I assume that the song has something to do with eyes. Any chance any of you knows what I'm talking about?

The Invisible Touch album is not that bad, in fact its not bad period. That was one of the very first albums i ever bought. Who cares thats it MTV dominated, etc. It was the 80's. Land Of Confusion is easily one of my alltime favourite Genesis songs.
