I caught Katatonia on their north american tour Tuesday when they came to Quebec city, and it was a pretty solid show.

They played a variety of songs from discouraged ones to their latest release. The band sounded great. it was a bummer that the set didn't last for more than 11 songs.

Daylight dies whom I love their latest release "Dismantling devotion" did a very good short set, they sounded really tight and the guitar sound was crystal clear. Every guitar note sounded perfect. I had the chance to talk to their lead singer Nathan Ellis after their set, he's extremly friendly with fans.

Moonspell was the headliner for the show but was the band I anticpated the least, I barely knew anything from them apart from some songs from the Wolfheart album. They didn't really impress me and some songs where quite a bore. Not a bad band by any means but it seems to not be my cup of tea. The only songs I was happy to hear was Vampira and Full Moon Madness.

Anybody here have seen this line-up on their North americain tour ?

Hopefully I will be seeing it in Phoenix on the 4th I think. I might skip BG and Leaves Eyes though. I really want to see Liv live but BG I like but maybe not concert worthy? Thoughts?

Moonspell and Katatonia (esp Kat since they are my fave band) I am dying for and I am a huge Moonspell (except the newest one) fan.

I'm still baffled at how any Moonspell fan could not like Memorial. It's so awesome.

Not really. I like Irreligious, Sin/Pecado, Butterfly Fx, Darkness and Hope, Antidote and I am not a huge fan of Wolfheart so it is not shocking to me at all. I should probably buy it to keep the collection pure though. All I heard was a download so that could be part of it.

Katatonia was really good. It was the second time I was seeing them.
They played Deadhouse, Cold Ways, Had To (Leave), Tear gas, Ghost of the Sun, Criminals, Evidence, Leaders, Soil's Song, My Twin and July.

Maybe you'll be even more tempted by this set list that I personnally found excellent.

I don't think it sounds like Wolfheart. I think it sounds more like their newer stuff and the Daemonarch side-project.

It doesn't and Daemonarch is 7 years old anyways. I don't like the album and that is that.

It certainly doesn't sound anything like Butterfly FX or Darkness and Hope so that only leaves the Antidote as "newer" stuff and it doesn't sound like that either.

Anyways, get over it, not everyone can love the same things as you.

Can anyone have a conversation with you without you fucking whining like a baby? Do you have ANY friends that like music? You're always replying stupid shit like "get over it, not everyone can love the same things as you." What is wrong with you? This is how people discuss music, you idiot! I'm not trying to get you to like the new Moonspell!

Quit being a goddamn dickhead.

Anybody can but you apparently. You just said you don't see how anyone that likes Moonspell doesn't like their new album. I told you why I didn't. You need to move on.

Anyways, I will see them Saturday so I am stoked.

Yeah except I don't see "Saw you Drown" "Tonights Decision" or "We must bury you" but anyways, great set list. Especially Tear Gas and Cold Ways

Are you going to argue semantics with me to justify your idiocy?

See you can resist turning everything into some long drawn out argumentative flame war with insults. Keep following the carrot and I will keep waving it at you.

It isn't semantics at all anyways. Basically you stated that you didn't see how anyone that like Moonspell wouldn't like this album like your taste and what you like is the only logical path for a Moonspell fan. Then to go one further you make a totally baseless point about it sounding like "newer" stuff where I pointed out that it sounded NOTHING like the Butterfly Fx and Darkness and Hope (true statement if you have those albums) and only a passing nod to the Antidote with the harsh vocals. You did correctly state that it does sound like some of the Symphonic Gothish BM tinged Deamonarch side project, and I pointed out that, that album was 7 years old so hardly "new".

I think that is for sure "discussing" music. I just didn't call you an idiot or a fag for being wrong where as you choose to insult me and make yourself look like some hopped up Meth freak on the 'net for the first time. Also I didn't narrow the entire discussion down too basically being "you can't be a Moonspell fan if you don't like the new album" which is totally false. You could technially be a big Moonspell fan even if you only like Wolfheart and their ep's but not Irreligous through Darkness and Hope. To be a fan of a band you don't have to love everything they did.

My comment was essentially a rhetorical comment! It wasn't a thought presented as fact, and it's surely didn't require the response of "anyways, get over it, not everyone can love the same things as you"—which was worded intentionally to piss me off, thus my follow-up comment.

You can argue all you want that the new album doesn't sound like the newer Moonspell material, I think it does, but both opinions are subjective. My main point, however, was that it did not sound like Wolfheart, which is fact. It does not.

As for my Daemonarch comment, I never once implied that was a new album, so why you're even commenting that it's 7 years old is beyond me.

Actually I didn't write that to piss you off but if you are that sensitive it did.........

You SAID "I don't see how a fan of the band can not like memorial" directly implying that if you don't like memorial you are not a fan of the band.

You're arguing semantics like a child would. That comment does not even remotely suggest I think you're not a fan of the band if you don't like Memorial.

Yes it does. You should have said "I am suprised that you are such a big fan of Moonspell but don't care for Memorial, I sure "adore" it and I adore the band too.

You see how wording makes a big difference in how you are perceived? By saying "you don't see" you are basically saying that everyone else is an idiot if they don't "see" it like you do.

Were you home-taught by alcoholic gypsies? My comment simply said that I cannot understand how a fan of Moonspell's previous albums could not like Memorial! That does not even come close to suggesting anyone else is an idiot or that they're not a fan.

My wording was perfectly fine for the logical mind, or for someone who isn't insistent on twisting meanings to cause friction.

This sucks. This tour is coming to San Antonio in a few weeks, but I can't afford to drive 5 hours to see Katatonia play 30 minutes. What a bummer. Damn you Moonspell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
