Ken's little Poisionblack hook up got me to thinking how much I love this style from Finland. Give me your opinions along with mine. See if I am missing anything: Sentenced - Crimson Charon - Tearstained (This album.....shit, so good) To/Die/For - All Eternity Entwine - Gone Sentenced - Frozen |

Er, not that im very knowledgable in this 'genre', but does Amorphis count? 'Eclipse' is certainly goth rock, and from finland. |

Great album, just got that one recently and was impressed. downhearted used to be my favorite by this band but tearstained will most likely take it's place soon enough! Charon's Dying daylight was good but not extraordinary, their new release Songs for The Sinners is a return to form for this band. I haven't heard the other bands in your list, but I was about to order a couple of Sentenced CD's earlier this week mainly because they were mentionned many times in Charon reviews. |

I agree. All Eternity and Epilogue are TDF only really good albums, after that I lost interest in them. Jaded was decent but IV sucked. I'll just add those 2 to your list: For My Pain - Fallen Silentium - Seducia Btw i've been meaning to check Juha Kylmanen's(For My Pain) other band Reflexion. I've heard very good things about their debut album Out Of The Dark. |

I'm not sure if I'd include Sentenced in this category, but a great band either way. Awesome albums, all of them. As for a top 5, totally not sure. Let me think about it. I'm going to go listen to this shit now! Hahaha. These threads have gotten me all wet for goth rock/metal! |

You gotta add Sentenced to this genre. Yeah they fall into a few categories but they can certainly fall into finish gothic metal |

For sure, when they changed styles on Down they kickstarted this whole thing. I meant to put Frozen on my list, not down. I think Sinamore is damn good too. Yeah Tearstained is great, has that rough edge to it like Sentenced. I wouldn't put Amorphis in the catagory. Tueonloa is my favorite album of all time, so it would def be number 1 if I thought they belonged. Another band that off beat but can fit is The Black League with Ichor or Man's ruin revisited. Ex Sentenced front man, dark, boozy Danzing like rock and roll. Good shit. |

Apparently I don't have a lot of bands in this genre. Hahaha. For My Pain, To/Die/For, HIM, Sentenced (if you say they belong), Poisonblack, and that's about it, I think. What about Beseech? I'd throw them in their, too. The Eternal, as well. |

HIM - Greatest Love Songs... Wow! Impressive album, nice vocals, and great atmosphere of the 80's SENTENCED - Frozen Cold, colder, the coldest stuff around. Many memorable moments, autumnal music... To/DIE/FOR - All Eternity Lots of pop influences here, perfect cover of Sandra's "In The Heat Of The Night". Well, the singer is a bit too...well...weeping like a little girl ![]() THE 69 EYES - Blessed Be Incredible album! Listen to all the gothic overtones! Delicious! The spirit of The Cult floats everywhere!!! I have to think about the 5th one... |
