I'm a huge Moonspell fan, I love all their albums. I know a lot of people have problems with The Butterfly Effect, some dislike Darkness And Hope or The Antidote, but I like them all. Still, I never expected Memorial to be so heavy!

It's Moonspell, but they've brought back the black metal that has hardly been seen since their Anno Satanae demo. Check out the song below, 90% of the vocals are heavy like this song, there's hardly any of the low, clean singing that is usually all over a Moonspell album. This album is so badass. 2006 is just kicking my ass! :D

MOONSPELL & DAEMONARCH

I also uploaded a song by Daemonarch, which is the members of Moonspell's black metal side-project. Check 'em out.

I dont know, I think I actually prefer the low clean vocals on the antidote.

Whoohooo!! This man has good taste...in this thread!

I still can't believe how awesome the new album is. It's not like I don't think every album is awesome, it's just that I expected something else. I never expected them to get heavier.

The Moonspell song was great, and I am one of those who can't stand the tedious killmenowfest that was Darkness and Hope..

I know a lot of portuguese people that were like you, and listened to the album. Guess what, 90% loved it! Give it a try, I hope (and I'm postive) you will like it! The Wolfheart spirit is there (you can feel it ;) )

Moonspell rules in EVERY album! End of story.

It's funny because on Wolfheart there is mostly the same style of stuff on later Moonspell albums. Sure, "Alma Mater" is the song I first heard, which is a heavier number, but it's not all like that. Anyway, no matter...

'Heavy' and 'Style' have nothing to do with good.

I agree, I think most people have only heard Wolfheart, heard their new stuff was gay on the 'net and stopped buying. Is not a strech between where they were at Wolfheart and where they went to now.

Wise words from Fernando Ribeiro himself, written on the Moonspell forum:

Memorial: the leak, the comments, the learning of the game. ;)

No matter, everything they've done has been good.

Man you have to get Irreligous, the Butterfly Fx and the Antidote. Great stuff.

I've heard everything post Wolfheart and they have nothing similar to that album, mine isn't a "they sold out" thing it's more like a "they lost the atmosphere" thing.

You've mentioned this and I find that to be a completely incorrect statement. I'm not sure how anyone can listen to Wolfheart and say that "lost the atmosphere" on later albums.

I just finally got the Under The Moonspell EP, what a fucking weird little EP. It's like symphonic black metal. Very strange. Good, though, just not what I expected. This came out right after the Anno Satanae demo and I expected something a lot heavier.

It shall be done! With the help of DC++ that is.. And if I likes it I will see what HMV has in stock.. Well actually I wanna see if they would have Darkness And Hope anyways, I doubt they would, but I've been surprised by them before, so who knows.

Wolfheart is still the top of my list. Nothing beats it. After Wolfheart, Rubeiro changed his vocal style which didnt please me.

Plus, Wolfheart is by far the most creative album Moonspell's put forth. And frankly, I think Wolfheart is the best debut album from a band. I've never heard any band come up with an album that was so explosive, all their tracks! That's probably a reason why I don't like the other Moonspell stuff. Wolfheart sorta became my benchmark.
