Those clips are bad clips. The album sounds great. What do you own by them?
Glad to hear it. I've only ever heard samples, no albums, but have always like them.
Here's the skinny:
Always and Almost A Dance are doom-death with a guttural male singer. Anneke first appears on Mandylion and musically it's still very doomy, but with females vocals. Nighttimes Birds came next and was a bit more uptempo and rockin', but it's still a fucking awesome album.
Then came How To Measure A Planet?, it's ambient, experimental rock, 2 CDs worth! It was quite a shock when it first came out, but it's a killer album, just VERY different!
If_Then_Else, the Black Light District EP and Souvenirs all sort of take the experimental side and mix it with the Nighttime Birds sound. Personally I think every album they have has been great, but they're one of those band that you cannot compare the albums with each other. Otherwise you may be disappointed.
They have a live album, which I don't own because I hate live albums, but their Sleepy Buildings album is great, a semi-acoustic live show where they do songs from all eras of the band, and then Accessories: Rarities & B-Sides is a great 2CD collection, and then Downfall: The Early Years is well worth finding if you like the first two albums.
Overall, a killer band that, for me, can do no wrong.
