Which is your favorite Doom band?

I'm quite a poseur in this genre (to quote H_T) because to be honest I know shit abour Doom Metal, but anyway, my favorite band is Thergothon.

I, too, am unitiated in this realm... but from what I have heard, Deinonychus is pretty depressive...

I've been listening to Nortt quite a bit recently (awesome by the way) and I must admit that Skartasis is quite right... Nortt are Funeral Doom all of the way with the exception of the vocals which are more Black Metal oriented.

So:

1) Thergothon
2) Nortt

Oh and by the way, I also agree with Misha that Agalloch isn't Doom (at least not in The Manttle), they're more of a Dark Metal band with loads of acoustic parts.

My favourite is Xasthur (and I'm sure they don't count but they're the closest thing to doom metal that I can like)

Try out Sins Of Thy Beloved's - Lake of Sorrow

it's sort of gothic but it definately has some doom stylings , many doom elements and it's a good way to get iniatiated IMO.

The only other doom band I enjoy are Shape of Despair

1. Cirith Ungol (not pure doom, but with doom influences for sure)
2. Candlemass
3. My Dying Bride

If you like Funeral Doom, be sure to try:

Thergothon (They created the genre.)
Skepticism
Nortt

I used to like Anathema a lot. Now they suck. And the previous albums sound dull now.
