So like, I searched the place and apparently there's no Neurosis or Cult of Luna reviews.

any requests?

I don't like Neurosis but some reviews are needed anyway

as for Cult of Luna I asked for a review of their latest album, hélas, I wasn't heard... :(

Salvation or The Beyond for COL. Salvation's probably a better bet.

And Neurosis...a Classic for Enemy Of The Sun?

man, I don't know if I'd give it a classic - I don't know how relevant Ambient Sludge (or whatever) is to most of the readers here.

but salvation sounds like a good pick from CoL.

Yes, probably their best so far.

I think one of the Neurosis albums should be a Classic, though. Through Silver In Blood? Or you could really screw with their heads and do some Tribes Of Neurot.

And that Red Sparowes album deserves a review.

Maybe. through silver in blood has a lot of hardcore to it, though.

I'll probably leave the lighter, more post-rocky stuff up to a reviewer who it suits better (maybe daniel?) I just plain don't like Red Sparowes, haha.

Any Neurosis will do, but here's my precedence list:

1. Times of Grace
2. The Eye of Every Storm
3. Through Silver in Blood
4. A Sun That Never Sets
5. Enemy of the Sun

Mournful Congregation - As I Drown In Loveless Rain

Better the second time around, but I still find my mind wondering away from the music.

yep, there is a certain emptiness so you have to actively concentrate on that album. oh well

np: Reverend Bizarre/Orodruin split

doom bands with good drummers. hurray!

Candlemass - Samarithan

This is only the third Candlemass album I've heard.

np: Asunder - A Clarion Call

this is interesting.. some sort of mix of trad and drone doom but with growled vocals. metal-archives has them listed as Funeral Doom/Death but I don't see it myself.. too many major chords, not enough slow passages to be funeral, and no romantic crap either.

damn good.

edit: good drumming, too.

NP: Pelican - Australasia

This is a lot heavier than the new one, at least so far. I like it, more of a doom feel.

next stop: to find underground bands that are like Pelican but better. you know it's true 8)

anyway, NP: Earthride - Vampire Circus

Stonery Trad Doom but with hard rockish Lemmy like vocals, I'm not sure if I like this and it's catchy.. something I'm trying to avoid :P

edit: they suck. most of the songs weren't slow enough either.

NNP: The Funeral Orchestra - Feeding the Abyss, and then a huge Boris/Merzbow/Boris+Merzbow playlist of ear destruction. I need my doomy vibe back, that southern rock masquerading as doom ruined it totally :x

me too. NP: Type O Negative - October Rust

I love these guys. I should dip deeper into male-fronted proper goth stuff, I basically know TON and the Sisters of Mercy. kinda lacking.

TON>SOM

I can do better than the Sister of Mercy with hand tied in my back  (or maybe not but they suck anyway)
