So far Nortt and Thergothon were misses for me. Any recommendations that sound more like Esoteric?

maybe Tyranny? Shape of Despair are sorta reminiscent of Esoteric but much more melodic. not many people sound like Esoteric, they're doing something special.

yesssssss. I wish the vocals were spoken instead of yelled, sometimes, it'd fit the industrial quality I find in all their riffs

It was good. Still not what I was hoping it would be. Esoteric really made me want to explore Funeral Doom, but it was good. I'll listen to it again though, I was getting ready for work and was kind of in a hurry this morning, so I missed out on about ten minutes (not literally) of every song (funny b/c they are all over ten minutes long). Although, it’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning, I'm way too hyped up on coffee and Helloween right now. I have a loooooong drive to Grand Island tomorrow, so that’ll be a perfect time.

No, but my download just finished. SHAPE OF DESPAIR - Angels of Distress, I'll check them out tomorrow or tonight as well.

from doom-metal.com:

Name: Esoteric
Country: United Kingdom
Status: Active
Description:
Maybe the ultimate doom metal band creating a very powerful atmosphere filled with apathy, insanity, hate and disgust for the human race. Ultra slow music, very long tracks, a devastating, apocalyptic sound with samples and highly distorted vocals.

no comparisons, you see? and frankly if someone started being an Esoteric clone after they heard Esoteric, I probably wouldn't want to hear them anyway..

np: Boris - Absolutego

I know, you've told me this before. Esoteric is one of a kind, I'm not disagreeing or looking for a clone. I'm just saying that after I heard them I had high hopes for what was to come. I'm sure there are still some great bands in the genre, but none of them have struck me the way Esoteric did. Know what I mean Vern?

Ahhh.... this is beautiful music. I love the symphonic sound they have going here. What else is good by these guys?

All three of their albums are good. Shades of... is a bit better than Illusion's Play though.
