Ooh, tell us if it's any good. I quite liked a track I'd heard.

And Rio, how's that Earth? I'm considering it, but can't find any samples ANYWHERE.

It's better than Assembly, but pretty much in the same style. I actually like it, but it's nowhere near their older stuff.

Tales from the $2 bin:

Deadbird - The Head And The Heart

Just got in the mail:

Leaves' Eyes - Legend Land (autographed)

I already told you it was good 'Nad. Should need no other word. They put some Metal back into their sound and not so much channeling the ghost of Das Ich and despite my total distrust of ToT without Liv, this chick Nell does good. While you are downloading and looking at videos check out Letters from the Fire by The Crest, Ken and I highly recommend it.

Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain

What's the big deal with this band? This hasn't impressed me much on one spin! :(

Paradise Lost - At The BBC

This is an interesting CD. It was used for $6.99, there are 18 songs total:

1-4 recorded in 1992 on the Friday Night Rock Show
5-8 recorded in 1995 on the Rock Show
9-18 recorded in 1993 at Liverpool Royal Court

It's an official BBC release, I didn't realize the BBC could be this cool? There's a lot of good shit on this CD, great recordings, too.

One spin was all it got. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, but it did nothing for me. It'll get another chance or two before I put it in the shelfcore section, if it happens.

You have the DVD PL did after One Second? It has all the videos up to and including that album plus two live shows, one old school one in Germany and one huge on they did in the UK after One Second came out. Highly recommended.

We sure don't buy a lot of doom and such, huh? Anyway, I just found this little gem:

Mist And The Morning Dew, The - The Mist And The Morning Dew (EP)

This was quite the surprise. I saw this a few weeks ago in Boston, the band name struck me because the line "the mist and the morning dew" is in an early, unreleased Def Leppard demo from the late 70s. So I was tempted to buy it then, but didn't. I meant to check it out on the net, but like always, I never remember to do that shit and on the off chance that I do remember it, I usually forget the band name! Anyway, I saw it again tonight and just bought it, fuck it, I thought, it's $5.

Anyway, it's like a demo EP, apparently the band lost the masters so the quality is like "high quality demo." It's very good, slow and doomy and folky with a female vocalist. A look on Metal Archives and there's a lot of people involved that I wouldn't have expected:

Quote:
Current line-up:

Veera Muhli - Vocals (ex-Korpiklaani, ex-Unholy (Fin))
Mikael Karlbom - Rhythm Guitar (Finntroll, The Seventh Planet)
Henri Tuomi - Drums (The Seventh Planet)
Jarno Salomaa - Acoustic & Lead Guitar (ex-Rapture (Fin), ex-Raven (Fin), Shape of Despair)
Sami Uusitalo - Bass (Finntroll, ex-Funebre (Fin), Shape of Despair)
Jaakko "Hittavainen" Lemmetty - Violin (ex-Astral (Fin), Korpiklaani, Pimentola, Poropetra, ex-Shaman (Fin))
A. Tolonen - Kantele (Nest, DoomSquirrel, Todesbonden, Shape of Despair (guest))

Former/past member(s):

Tomi Ullgren - Bass (ex-Impaled Nazarene, Rapture (Fin), ex-Raven (Fin), Shape of Despair, Thy Serpent)
Tony Mäensivu - Drums (ex-Raven (Fin), ex-Shape of Despair)
Johanna Vakkuri - Flute

Pretty cool, eh? And it's apparently limited to 1000 copies, a re-release of their 2002 demo. A good find, I'd say.

Anyone ever heard of this band before?

They were in a list of bands I meant to check out a while ago, but I forgot. I'll have to have another look...

How do you like the Technical/Doom combination. Frankly, I found it hard to get into.
