Oh yeah I heard some stuff from them a while back and really liked it.

Perhaps I shall look out for this.

Too melodic and modern for my tastes.. I wish there were more bands following the traditional doom of St. Vitus and Candlemass.

The new Solitude Aeuturnus will be out soon. That should wet your appetite! Personally, I can't fucking wait! Plus Robert Lowe is going to release his Concept Of God side-project finally!!

Anyway, I really like Swallow The Sun, very much like Slumber, another band I was surprised that I liked so much. I will definitely pick up this new CD.

Their debut was awsome. Better than Slumber, in my opinion. Hope they can keep up.

When i saw a review for their other album The morning Never Came they classified it as death metal. Now they are apparently a doom metal band? so what do they sound like? Having never heard their music, because I've only just started getting into doom like Pentagram, Grand Magus, Pod People, Candlemass, etc, I want to know whether they are melodic, brutal or a mixture of the two. Hopefully they don't use the ruff-ruff-to-tra-la-la-la-whine of all these hardcore bands. I've given up on being interested in new bands where the press release states something like ''Brutal verses meet melodic Chorus'', because too many bands use that nowadays.

Doom Death would be the accurate "genre" placement. They have death metal like vocals, which are closer to the melodic death metal tone rather than shit like Cannibal Corpse, and the music is decidely slower and more doomy than traditional death metal. I would say they're melodic and brutal, but very mid-paced to slow in musical style.

The first CD is fucking killer. They even cover a Candlemass song!! Check out the samples:

Swallow - The Sun - Descending Winters (Clip)
Swallow The Sun - Deadly Nightshade (Full Song)
Swallow The Sun - Under The Waves (Clip)

check out Slumber if you like this, too. both are rather melodic and not really very doomy but too slow to be placed in power metal. you may be a closet case if you like both, though.

Yeah, Slumber is another good choice.

I really like this kind of music... But i have this strange experience with it... When i first hear it i just listen in awe. I listen it for a few times and then the feelinling withers... The songs don't seem so special anymore...
So i listen to Slumber and Swalow the sun just occasionaly to keep the feeling.
