Why can I listen to everyone of their albums and enjoy them all the way through? Why are they so mesmerizing? They should release a new album once a week to fulfill my Doom Metal cravings.

Because they are. At least in the one album that I've heard.

Now I need to go see if they're all as good!

My personal favorite is Nightfall. I actually almost cried when I heard the "At the Gallows End" Robert Lowe version with the new album. I thought he destroyed it, but it's just a different feel. No where near as good as the original I think. The album is great though.

I was just looking at Nightfall on Amazon. There wasn't any samples, but I've heard the newest release, and thought it was okay. The singer sings a bit too high, in my opinion. Not that that's a bad thing, I just prefer my doom metal with lower vocals.

If you think the new release is too high... that's why I disliked the remake of "At the Gallows End," because Robert Lowe's voice is lower than that of singer in Nightfall.

My favourite is Epicus Doomicus Metallus, although the four albums I've heard have all been pretty similar (perhaps the only fault in their music), despite different singers. Messiah Marcolin isn't much higher than Rob Lowe, like an 8 compared to a 7 on the high-ness scale :P

Saw them live recently, they were great.

Although indupitably I prefer earlier to recent. More character there, I think.

On the "why is Candlemass so awesome?" front I have but one thing to contribute.

I've only heard Chapter VI and the s/t. One of the things that makes the s/t so much more awesome is the vibratoOoOoOo. So I'll say thats a big factor.

Haha! Yeah but not in the same sense as Tobi! Tobi can get damn annoying.

True. Messiah's Vibrato Fu is mightier than Tobi's.

The re-recordings with Lowe are absolutely killer! He's a different kind of singer, it's kind of pointless comparing. It's like the Barlow to Owens argument. Two different singers, it makes no sense to compare.

Doesn't Leif Odling right everything anyways? The vocal melodies on all their albums I've heard, even with the various singers, sound pretty similar

Nuclear Blast just released a 7" picture disc with an early version of "Demonia 6" and a new version of "Black Dwarf" with Lowe on vocals. I just ordered mine.

I hope I can find a download of these songs, though, since I don't own a damn record player! Haha.
