If it ain't broke don't fix it. That's what Suzuki and Lazaro probably thought after Dechristianize, so here we have Icons Of Evil, after the same precise recipe: inhuman drumming, devastating riffs, hellish vocals from Benton and melodic leads and solos to shed a bit of light on the melting inferno here and there. All in 9 long songs and an intro... even the intro idea resembles the previous one. And I couldn't be happier! Especially since I think the songwriting is even better than on Dechristianize. This is one crushing masterpiece of brutality, best of 2007 so far, as far as I'm concerned. It's gonna be very hard for any death metal band to top Vital Remains this year, I think.

Yep, pretty much summed up my thoughts even though i don't listen to as much metal as usual right now.

I've heard about Icons of Evil but haven't listened to it yet. Mmmm...Benton's owning everyone now, isn't he?
