Post subject: Hellhammers thoughts on new DIMMU
PostPosted: Sat Feb 10, 2007 7:00 pm
here's a post from hellhammer on the extremedrumming.net forums a few months back:

"I just got a rough mix of 4 new songs now, and I must say, compared to the old dimmu, this sounds much harder than before. Both the songs and the sound!
There is no orchestra as it was on the last album, but the songs are darker and really dont need this stuff.
In my opinion, its less commercial than before, or listening friendly, if you want.
I REALLY like it alot!"

Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong. Good thing he's neutral about it.

Are 'commercial' and 'listening friendly' really the same thing?

As if anything about Shaggy's processed vocals are listener friendly.

It might be good though, Silenoz can write some killer riffs. it certainly can't be as boring as Death Cult Armageddon.

Yeah, I used to be really into boring metal when it came out! I loved PEM, their previous (that should say enough). I tried to like DCA sooo hard, I played it for about 50 times, but the album just kept sucking!

Sounds good. :dio:

By no orchestration, I assume he means no symphony and so we're back to the keyboards of Spiritual Black Dimensions.

Hopefully Hellhammer's right. He seems like he'd know what he's talking about. Less commercial can't be a bad thing either. It seems like they were trying too hard to make a listener friendly sound with DCA.

I'd listen to it simply for his drumming!

Then you might just as well buy the reiteration of their sophomore album; that would have his drumming and some decent music to go beside it.

Heres the cover art

Better than the other recent Dimmu covers IMO

The cover just seems too bright or clean compared to EDT or SBD. It's cool though.

All Dimmu albums since Stormblast have had covers cleaner than that

DCA cover art was pointless, this one is pretty good.

Hmmm... I can't help but have flashbacks of Behemoth-Demigod, and I bet I already know what will be said to that...

If this album is nowhere near Demigod, I'm happy. :dio:
