I bumped into these guy's demo CD a couple weeks back and then spent an hour or two chatting with the guitarist. A pretty cool deathy black metal act with heavy Cryptopsy influences, seeing as the guitarist and drummer are obsessed with them. My only complaint is that it's a bit repetitive, alot of riff cloning but all-in-all it's pretty rad. No idea where/if you can get the demo outside of Victoria or their shows, so I ripped a track. He told me they were focusing completely on a full-length album now, and are gonna be hitting the studio pretty soon, so I'm pretty excited. Could be a great release if they made it a bit more varied.

There's certainly potential in there, needs some work though. Liked it quite a bit, if they just develop a little they might be onto something real good

Pretty much what I thought. There's four other songs on the demo, and one or two of them vary a little more. If they can forge a more advanced or distinct sound, they'd be fucking :dio: .

Here's a second one, and I'll refrain from uploading the whole demo as much it tempts me. This one here seems to be a fair bit more varied, or at least the FUCKING KILLER finale makes it seem so. This song is gonna spend a lot of time being played.

My favourite part is just after the half-way mark, where it almost turns into a melodeath track. But, the more I listen to the album, the more I like it. I really hope these guys do well on their debut album, because this is a fucking great start!

very nice, and very cryptopsy-ish like you said.

the vocals were so-so, the music on the other hand rules.

If you listen close, you can hear some Berzerker on In The Path of the Current. Or at least, I do. I really hope these guys can drag a more unique sound of their album. If they do, they'll be pretty fucking great. A promising sign I noticed in Empire is that when they switch up really suddenly, they really don't miss a beat. It's sudden and jarring, but so smooth it's almost like "D:?".
