Burn Your Halo is my friend Paul Guidry's new band. He's the drummer, and he's awesome! He was in Slaves For Scores before, but they broke up recently (you can still download every demo they recorded for their unreleased Inertia album here). He is joined in Burn Your Halo by Anthony Hammond, the singer in Slaves For Scores. The band has been together for over a year now, but Paul and Anthony joined recently. They've managed to demo some new tunes and they came out pretty good. They play a more modern take on melodic death metal, similar to Children Of Bodom, I guess. Here are some rough demos (from MySpace): THE DROWNING BE THY SIN HATE INJECTION They've even got a pretty professionally kick ass video! EVERYTHING IS NOTHING (Video) Check them out. ![]() Website: http://www.burnyourhalo.com MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/burnyourhalo |

I did. It seemed good but the sound quality made it hard to judge. |

Wow, an Arizona band. They're pretty good...your friend is a good drummer. They're definitely talented, there's just nothing that really sets them apart from other melodeath bands. |

Correct. The singer is Finnish, apparently friends with the dudes in Children of Bodom, but the band does have a more modern, Americanized style of melodeath going on. My friend is, indeed, an amazing drummer, but this is nothing for him. I would guarantee that Gene Hoglan would bow down to him in respect if he was able to watch him really go at it. I have a video of him in Korea (he's in the Air Force still) where he plays a drum solo for like 20 minutes! Haha. We were drunk as hell at that point. Anyway, about halfway through he puts down the sticks and starts going off, using his bare hands instead. It was so badass! 10/99 – 10/00 was the best year of my life thus far. So many killer memories. I need to learn how to transfer 8mm tapes to some format used on a PC. You all need to see Run DMZ in action! Haha. You get to see me do Limp Bizkit! ![]() |

I gotta give this a bump. My friend is out of the Air Force in a month, so these guys are going to finally be able to act as a real band. They're recording their debut now, and they've already got a small distro deal in Japan ready for when it's released. They're also doing a west coast tour in August, and then playing with Sonata Artica later in the year. Should be awesome. Why do I know a ton of people in famous bands, yet I can't find a band that doesn't suck? ![]() |
