Since we've been discussing Dark Tranquillity and many of you seem to like more of the The Gallery-era material and earlier than the newer stuff, check out Laethora. This is Niklas Sundin's new side-project, definitely much more in line with early Dark Tranquillity than the new stuff, but much more black/death metal, too.

They have a CD, March Of The Parasite, already recorded and they're currently shopping a 5-song promo around to labels—a promo in which I am trying to desperately get a copy of to review. Anyway, there's not much at their site, a short bio and a medley of rough mixes, which sounds very promising. Check it out:

Yeah, it might be for me, too. I reserve judgement until the final version is released. I think with a meatier guitar sound and just and all-around better mix the vocals won't stand out so much. We'll see.

Thanks a bunch, eyesore. I'm excited by this! Yes, I agree the mix needs to be fixed.

I don't like the vocals that much, music sounded generic, and the production was AWFUL (although not final, so that's excusable... although they can only make it so much better).

i just checked out their profile on The End Records... it sounds like it might be pretty cool, although the vocals are kinda eh.

Eh, shitty sound, shitty vocals, not very impressive. I had high hopes, especially when everyone was whining that it was too death. :(

.:crast:.
