I just listened to the new Anata album entitled "The Conductor's Departure," and I have to say that it is the best Technical Death Metal album I have heard since Death were in their prime. These guys are insane. I have been a fan since they released "Dreams of Death and Dismay," but "The Conductor's Departure" has moved them up several notches in my book. Just listen to the complex guitar harmonies in the track Downward Spiral into Madness to see what I am talking about; the complex organization of the guitar parts (which are soaked in delay) rivals orchestral music. This album is totally intense, and it remains catchy, while reveling in complexity and brutality. I highly recommend that you check Anata out if you like Necrophgist, Hieronymus Bosch, or Death. (I should write metal press releases!) ![]() |

i loved it the first time I heard it, but now it doesn't really hold my interest very much. They have some unique riffs/guitar harmonies, but the novelty of them kind of fades after a few listens. Props to Anata for getting better with each album though. Then again i also think i'm losing interest in most kinds of death metal =/ |

Hey a new album! I think they are pretty good, not groundbreaking or anything, but very, very solid. |
