Overall, not bad. The opening is a pure Slayer speed-fest. And then the song slows down to a riff reminiscent of Anthrax's Keep It In The Family.

Haha what the fuck? Pirate Jesus?! Those old bizzare covers definately had their charm. Part of Slayer's appeal to me, is this sort of cartoony quality they posses, and this surrealist gore stuff fits perfectly.

Hellraiser Xes: indeed. whenever Slayer slowed down i never found it anywhere near as cool as when they were going full-throtle.

Sifl: what didn't you like about them? their old shit is gold, maybe you heard some of the newer music?
(it's okay to not like Slayer, i'm just curious, as Slayer are teh muscal pwn).

I disagree. South of Heaven is definitely my favourite album by them, and Reign in Blood is probably my least favourite of the classic five. Too much speed without songwriting or thought= not good.

However, in this case, the fast part was definitely better than the slower part. It sounded all right, this clip, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Show No Mercy is their best IMO, and Tormentor their best song

Well my hopes are certainly up...The combination of that clip and the album artwork is really gearing me up for mid-July. I just hope this song doesn't fall into the more Kerry King-ish slowdowned badassness we were subject to on GHUA. Now don't get me wrong, slow Slayer is awesome (Spirit in Black, Bitter Peace intro, Criminally Insane, Seasons).

Spirit in Black and Criminally Insane are slow Slayer?

-3. Some songs, like Raining Blood, Angel of Death and Altar of Sacrifice have good songwriting. Most of them, however, end far too quickly, aren;t developed well and suffer from less than exemplary riffage.
