Agalloch + Pelican - Most vocals + Some Varg-ish screams = New Agalloch || Very good stuff. |

I've been listening to it a lot too. Unfortunately, the cd player in my car doesn't like the second half of the cd and won't play it, so I may have to make a new one. :? I like it a lot so far, and to be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to after hearing the sample track that was posted and reading some of the comments. I do like that track, and I figured I'd like the album, just maybe not as much as the others. I guess I was wondering if the addition of more post-rock sounds would somehow take away from what made them Agalloch. I think it was worked in nicely. I don't know, this will probably never be my favorite album of theirs, but it's really really good, and I'm glad that after such a long wait it's going to be worth it. -Tyrion |

Wait 'till it's officially released, Misha. The labels can get a bit screwy if you review it unless MRs.com has an official promo. Anyway, if it's how you say it is (and I'm sure your review is accurate as always), I'm sure it'll be great. |

Just listened to a few tracks. Indeed this is very good. Moving away from pure BM but still quality songwriting nonetheless. The Bm vox are almost clean/dirty sounding at the same time. Im guessing due to production. No longer has an underground sound to it tho. Kult fans might be dissapointed. |

Huh? They haven't even sounded like pure black metal for a long time... Production is definately a little different for them though, probably not just because of the direction of the music, but also just from having a full-time drummer in there playing. I definately noticed a difference there, and I also think JWW's bass doesn't have quite as much "breathing room" as it has in the past. Seems like it tends to mesh in with the guitar tones a little more. It stands out more in "Our Fortress Is Burning - I" and the early sections of 'part II' though. Maybe there's more, and I've just missed them... -Tyrion |
