Like on that first one with Gaahl on it, there was a lot of electronics and that. Any experimentation on this one?

Not really, no. This is pretty much the same as Twilight.

Ive got Pentagram, and i listened to it once or twice. It completely failed to do anything interesting for me. So, all Gorgoroth is the same?

Later Gorgoroth is different, in a bad way. Not as melodic, more industrial and boring. Pentagram is one of their better releases and if you didn't like it I don't think you'll like their other stuff.

Isn't Under The Sign Of Hell supposed to be their best? The one after Antichrist...

I dunno if the majority thinks that way, I guess I like Destroyer the best. One of my first ever bm records, I was overwhelmed by it at the time. Doesn't sound so good anymore though. All their releases have their moments but really, overall they are a mediocre band and I think we all know how they got to be this famous.

Gorgoroth never really did it for me. Short lived enjoyment, 4 years ago, but nothing memorable. This failure is no surprise.

Having listened to "Wound Upon Wound", I think you're being a bit unfair, Kathy. It's more than decent tech-BM with a nice breakdown the middle. Plus Gaahl's vocals seem to have improved a lot...

I've noticed this a lot with people who download, they seem to get bored with stuff quicker than people who buy. Maybe because buying is an investment, and you try and get more out of it? Anyway, when I get more pleasure from one track on a free magazine CD than you do from an entire album, looks like something's wrong somewhere. I know you're much more experienced than me in BM, but if it's good, it's good!

Anyway, something tells me you'll be amongst the first to praise the new Carpathian Forest, which is hardly breaking new ground itself. Hippo krit?

1- You've just heard one song and that is probably the best one so . Get the album if you loved it so much and we'll discuss it. 2- I would die before I buy a Gorgoroth (norse-core-oth) album, who made themselves big just by the media. 3- I've had the new CF for months and I love it, yeah it isn't new but I wouldn't expect an old school bm band to change themselves, I would be dissapointed if they did. I didn't expect this one to be groundbreaking, not even fresh, but being the same crap as Twilight... is only one reason why I hate this album 4-Industrial bm doesn't have to mean non melodic drone noise made into a whole album. 5- Gaahl imo has always been one of the best vocalists, he's the best part of this shit.

To listen to quality black metal with Gaahl on vocals, check out Trelldom. "Til Et Annet" slays everything Gorgoroth have done till this day.

1. Well...
2. I am not as kvlt as you, clearly.
3. I haven't heard it yet. I notice you haven't answered the point about downloading...?
4. I like doom, so maybe I'm more tolerant...
5. Yeah, good voice. But I'm sure I heard an older Gorgoroth song and the vocals were bad. Maybe not!

Ta, I'll make a note.

About downloading, well, you do have a point. Because I have a million things to listen to, maybe I may be writing off some bands and some albums too easily. But not this album, as I said there are many reasons to hate it, and it's only 30 minutes so I did listen to it quite a few times before having an opinion. Gaahl is what makes it tolerable.

It's not like I'm going to rush out and buy it the second it's out, anyway. Just interesting to talk about...

Have you heard Sahg? Cool Doom band, started by King Ov Hell.

Nope. I'll check out their myspace now. These Gorgor guys seem to be doing better in other bands, so maybe I'll like it. And you should check out Jotunspor, same guys. I've heard good things about it.
