Post subject: New Dragonlord CD Coming Out In September!!!
PostPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2005 3:04 am
I cannot fucking wait!!

DRAGONLORD, the San Francisco Bay Area "black" metal band featuring current and former members of TESTAMENT, will release their sophomore album, "Black Wings of Destiny", on September 26 in Europe and October 4 in the U.S. via Escapi Music. The follow-up to 2001's "Rapture" (Spitfire Records) was recorded and mixed by Fredrik Nordström (HAMMERFALL, DIMMU BORGIR, ARCH ENEMY) at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden, and will include such tracks as "The Becoming Of", "Until the End", "Mark of Damnation", "The Curse of Woe", "Blood Voyeur" and "The Requiem".

DRAGONLORD performed yesterday (July 23) at the Earthshaker Fest in Geiselwind, Germany, where they showcased some of the new material and filmed footage for an upcoming DVD.

I seriously thought the album was shit, but now that I see what it's made of, that doesn't surprise me. Commercial crap *dogges*.

I think that the most acurrate description would be modern Dimmu Borgir with Thrash guitars... what's wrong with that!? I'll tell you: Nothing.

It may be commercial, but it's fuckin' good.

I enjoyed their first album. I like a good mix of black metal and thrash. Hopefully this next will be even better.

I actually haven't seriously listened to Dragonlord yet (save for some samples on Amazon). I should really check them out, though, despite the fact that I'm not a fan of black metal.

Nor am I, but this isn't straight up black metal, there's a good does of thrash in there.

I've only heard one track, but it was great. I've been wanting to get the album but I can never get ahold of it.

Not the best song, but an excellent example.

No one could find it? Funny, I found mine at my local FYE.

I know that they have it on Amazon.

That opening guitar melody sounded almost exactly like the opening for Ride The Snake.

Overall, not bad for black metal. I do like the intermixing of thrash rhythms. So that the music has a little melody and actually has a point (as opposed to a lot of other black metal).

Hmmwa, too little melody for black metal, way too much blasting for black metal, and the thrash doesn't fit the wannabe black metal. Result: norsecore.

Sorry i have to disagree with you, there is not too much of a blast beats in black metal neither does any "norsecore" exist.
The down tempo you are reffening as a black metal is not a BM but a classic doom or doom/black.

If you cant accept that bands like Marduk or Dark Funeral are BM then its only your problem and doesnt mean they are not BM.

Reffering to BM bands as "norsecore" is well...inaccurate.

btw. long live the blast beats, more the better to beat the shit out of the githic/doom depresive pussies.

Hail DARK FUNERAL , one of the best BM around !!!!

...way too much blast beats for black metal........sorry but muheheheheh

hmm, well, the original BM showed not a lot of blasting, so what's wrong with accepting a term that the majority has already accepted? Some blasts don't hurt though...
