I saw it AFTER I'd already paid for 90$ worth in CD's at Metal Haven last Sunday... I felt like shit, because I couldn't get it, and I never would have guessed that it was out. Also, the cover was unexpected. : \

Have any of my brothers heard it?

It's been on my mind for a while, I'll get it eventually. Not a big fan.

I'm struggling to find music in here. Now I know that Nachtmystium has never been about great production, or black metal in general for that matter. But this time they're really making it hard for me to even discover any music. The vocals are drowned into the mix, the guitars are just light and fuzzy and also blend in with the rest. The only thing really standing out are the drums (not in a good way), because they produce the most bass of all. When compared to recent releases (Demise, Eulogy IV) this production is just a large step back, think demo style. Now for some this may very well be a plus, and I must admit it does sound good at times, but the music of Nachtmystium requires a decent production to be remotely interesting, and this record proves it.

Songs like "A Seed For Suffering" and "Chosen By No One" are pretty ok, and the first even includes an acoustic guitar part. But a track like "Keep Them Open" and many others, are just dull chaotic monotone tracks with no real interesting parts.

Overall I think this CD could probably go either way. Some people will hail it for it's lack of production, and it's worship of old times. Others will hate it for the fact that it's production just isn't up to par, and the songs are rather dull written. None of the tracks really stand out, there is no second "The Glorious Moment" or "My Vengeance" or "Cold Tormentor (I've Become)" to be found here.

Before buying this, do listen to some mp3's.
Don't fall for the hype, I'm definitely not buying this.

Never take reviews from MA too seriously (I'm not slagging the site, I think it's great and actually I write reviews there too when I have time); they're mostly written by unprofessional reviewers who more often than not let their bias towards a particular genre/band/whatever get the best of their works. Just look at Opeth reviews: either nauseating fanboisms or belligerent clueless bashing, with little to zero middle ground.

...and yes, I rated Orchid 100% :P

This ain't half bad. Not as bad as people say it is, definitely listenable.

Zad, I can upload this one for you, but if there's something else you want more than this but cant find I can do it as well. I got all the major bm releases of 2006.

Just listening to an mp3 of Eternal Ground from the new album  Holy shit, this is going to be a great year for BM!! Just hope that Nachtmystium keeps it word and comes to play in Finland later this year.

I never could understand why Nachtmystium in some songs needs to end it with those fucking annoying noises.

Picked this up yesterday and I love it. No idea what the reviewer at M-A was talking about. Maybe listening to a really shitty MP3 copy? The production isn't bad at all, and I don't find any of the songs to be monotonous  Little psychadelic touches here and there and decent songwriting. Solid album from Nachtmystium (haven't heard any of their other releases though) and I'd probably rate it about a 75/100.
