I don't have time to post here much anymore, but I thought that I would start a thread on this awesome new band I recently discovered. I have been in a bit of a musical rut lately, and this album has really sparked my interest more than any other I have come across recently. The band's name is Noumena and their album, which came out in 2005, is called "Absence." This band is simply a cut above all of the melodeath clones that seem to pop up constantly. This release has great guitars, great production, real death vocals, and clean vocals that actually add something to the music.

Below are links to the End Records Where the C.D. can be purchased and the band's website, where you can sample two tracks. Let me know what you think!

P.S.: The track "Slain Memories" has guest female vocals, but they are only present on that particular song. All other songs feature male vocals.

Noumena are great, but I'm not sure I'd call them melodic death. They're more toward the gothic/doomy end of the spectrum, at least to my ears. "Absence" is a highly recommended album, though.

Noumena is great stuff. I got a mix CD from Spinefarm records and found them on there and loved it.
