Post subject:  Death and others

I have made it quite clear around here that Death is my favourite death metal band. But I was wondering if there are any other death metal bands that are like Death, not only the music but for vocal style. Not a exact soundalike but something that is not to intense but still 100 percent death metal. When you hear your like "That sounded like Chuck!"

For some reason, the Obituary vocalist (Damned if I can remember his name) reminds me of Chuck.

John Tardy, and yeah they can sound similar at times.

But really I can't think of anyone that I would actually think "hmm that sounds a lot like Death" upon listening to. Atheist is a very good suggestion though, as they really do sound like kindred spirits artistically despite having unique sounds. "Unquestionable Presence" and "Individual Thought Patterns" for example seem to be aiming to achieve very similar musical goals.

Yeah, you should really check out Pavor, it is really some of the most messed up tech-death i have ever heard with Necrophagist and Psycroptic.

Oh and Chuck's vocals are unique, not many can imitate him and often fail.

What is Pavor discography? I will add them to my "To Buy" list. Their complete discography, if you know it.

A Pale Debilitating Autumn and Furioso are the albums.. everything else is demos I thinks. try and find a sample first, it's unusual.

edit: they're not on a label, I don't know how easy it is to find their albums. all I have are shitty lbr mp3s.

Yes indeed. I vote for atheist and cynic as well.

Nothing to do with your question, but as for your signature. I think its a close tie between Spiritual Healing and Symbolic.

Go to Metal-Archives.com. Type in Pavor. Follow the link to their site. You can buy both their 94 release and the 03 release.

I've listened to both about 7 times apiece now, and can honestly say BOTH are VERY worth buying.

No Questions Asked. They rule indeed.

On the musical side I'd recomend Athiest. They are most similar to the last four Death albums but even more progressive and chaotic. They also have a clear jazz influence. Sorry if you've already heard these guys.

In the line of Atheist even if not nearly as good, try Alarum i think they are pretty good.

Try also Sceptic from Poland.
