...And it is! I heard the title track from Satyricon's new album last night on BBC's Radio One Rock show, it's just as bad as the Volcano material. So, fans of that will love this, the rest of us can pay farewell to a band who've sold out.

You can hear a minute from it at www.satyricon.no playing in the background. If you really want, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rockshow/ (scroll down for the tracklisting) and listen to it, quality varies. About an hour and eight minutes in, the song is.

Thoughts?

Can't hear it, thanks for the link anyway. It will leak soon, so I'll just wait for it to happen, then I'll share my thoughts.

Everything up to (and including) Nemesis Divinia. Rebel Extravaganza isn't bad, but try Volcano at your own risk.

I thought more people would be interested than this. Maybe I should change the thread title...

Hmm. I liked pretty much every Satyricon release, one more one less but all of them are good.
Volcano is not as bad as people say it is.
Rebel Extravaganza is very good.
Nemesis Divina is out of this world and so is Dark Medieval Times.

My problem with Volcano is that they tried to slow the music down and go groovy, but it just doesn't work, and ends up being neither Black metal nor whatever bastardisation they were aiming for. Plus, that "Black Lava" song is so mind-numbingly boring I get the urge to hurt myself whilst it plays.

I agree the last song is kind of boring, but some tunes are nice and catchy in a good way.
Btw dont you think the song Fuel For Hatred is awesome?
I find it superb!

Catchy, yes, but it's such an obvious single on an albumful of longer songs. I wouldn't mind, but I just don't like what they're doing, and I think this new one will go further along that road.

I hated Volcano even though it had it's moments and I agree that Fuel For Hatred is pretty kickass. I don't expect this album will be any better, I might go for it if it has some more up tempo songs like FFH but I doubt it. I think I'll wait until it comes and the reviews are done.

From comments I've seen on other sites, no-one likes it. Flop Of The Year?

Np: Satyricon - Tied In Bronze Chains

I think right now I'm listening to their new single: King. It isn't taht bad actually. Really it isn't. Keep in mind I hate Volcano and pretty much Satyricon for being sellouts.

It's spelt K.I.N.G , the fuckers. They sound like a crap version of Amon Amarth (and they're not that good).

I'll reserve judgement on it until I hear the whole thing. I thought Volcano would be crap after hearing Fuel for Hatred(I hate that song) but I thought the rest to be pretty good. I even like the monotony of Black Lava from time to time. I am getting sick of all of these bands throwing in bits of Melodeath just for the hell of it though. There is a yard full of broken bandwagons out there.

What exciting drum patterns...

I agree with whoever said it, this really seems to lack energy (among other things). At least Volcano felt like they were into it.
