I just think the vocalists they've had suck, I mean, the music is pretty cool at times. It's just the vocals, ugh.

I couldn't agree with you more, I can't stand the vocals of Arch Enemy. I didn't like them back when I hated Death Metal and I can't stand them now when I have accepted Death and Black Metal. Because as some may remember my nicname was pretty bad. Why can't we all like the same kind of metal? Thrash, Speed, Traditional, and Power. But I hate hate hate Death and Black metal.

i think this new chick, Angela whats-her-name has a great Death Metal Voice, BUT she (or whoever is writing them) writes the absolute worst lyrics. I mean they are just plain dumb. So dumb in fact I gave away my copies of Anthems of Rebellion and Doomsday Machine. even though I liked alot of the music, I just could not get past how stupid some of the songs were.

Both of them suck indeed but they didn't ruin the music for me.

Johan Liiva has a very unique voice so it can be hard to get used to, I never really liked him in Arch Enemy. I thought he fit Furbowl much better, and also Hearse and Nonexist, but something about him in Arch Enemy never sounded right to me, though I do still like the albums.

Angela Gossow is not a bad vocalist at all, especially considering she's a chick doing typically male vocals. My only problem with her is that they enhance her vocals with vocal processors. It sounded terrible on Anthems Of Rebellion, she sounded like Gollum from LOTR! On Wages Of Sin and Doomsday Machine she sounds damn good, but again, it's not 100% natural.

yea like I said, her voice is cool (and who doesn't add effects to voices these days) but every time I heard, "DON'T TURN AROUND I'M RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" I would fucking cringe.

"Oh no! Not right behind me! Whatever shall I do!?"

But I think you have to cut her some slack, because any other women who can sound like a demon also looks like one.

Why would anyone ever wanna sing in Arch Enemy?

Untrue! I was actually surprised at how good she was in a live environment. Although there were a few weird bits where you could actually have told it was a girl singing (y'know, if you were blind or something :roll: ).

I think Angela's vocals are quite good, but a little montonous. And I agree with Ken about the vocal effects on AOR (lolzors ironik akronym) though, very annoying.

Liiva, well, his shitty vocals have a cetain charm about them.

She's not a bad vocalist, but the music doesn't do much for me.

Liiva > Gossow

The answer is simple. Arch Enemy is a shitty band and needs a vocalist of compatible quality.

Well, who actually writes the lyrics for AE? B\C there is certainly a difference between "Wages" and "Doomsday"\"Anthems".

Can't disagree with that.

Liiva was different but I liked him, Gossow just sucks.
