Noticed you cannot post replies to the review.. but wanted to ask a question.

I recently purchased The Pagan Prosperity and loved its catchy simplicity; is this new release similiar in any way?

Also, I am wondering about this habit of reviewers constantly defending their Black Metal scores in reference to certain forum members' opinions? Reviews should be above the fray - a lot of people reading won't get the reference anyways, and it sounds too apologetic. The responses of the raw BM crowd are quite predictable by now and IMO it's not necessary for a formal rebuttal.

The latest one is just another high-production norsecore experience; if you liked the previous one, you should be safe..

..about the "perhaps previous generations weren't using their tools correctly" comment which ruffled my feathers; if someone is just making over-simplified versions of old music and pretending that technology makes it new, well then I disagree. A lot of music has been written over the years, but not many songs have, and this simply won't appeal to people who have come to appreciate the previous generations of black metal. I can see this and I'm a total newb to the genre, haha.

But is the music actually good? I am not a newb to the genre .. in fact I was teetering on the precipice of elitism but managed to step back.

Oh, that statement was aimed at the reviewer, not you..

As for the music on Vermin.. it's adequate, solid, with no faults, but very predictable. I just found the songs terrible, and that's just taste.

Judging from the "Enslaved And Condemned" download, this album kicks ASS!

Of course, I really have to get the album to judge. 8) (But honestly, I really have no doubts that this one will be my favorite for 2005... Oops, don't let the BM crowd hear that.)
