Everytime I listen to NSV I marvel at how free verse the whole album is... Minus the much less chaotic, and more traditionally constructed Phobophile. Yes, the song is insanely chaotic, but at the same time, if it wasn't for Lord Wurms signature on the Vox department, there's chance that this little number could be mistaken for a modern, safe medium, brutal gore band's number. Maybe that's a stupid statement... Well, as far as I'm concerned, this song has the spirit of Brutal Melodic Death Metal. Catchy, melodic at times, and yet still, AMAZINGLY, it sounds like something that's never been repeated yet. If some brutal melodeath band wrote 10 songs in the vein of Phobophile, and introduced it to all the world, they might actually get away with being called something new, and original. In closing, I feel the song totally contrasts a beautiful album, but so drastically that it too is an extreme, and therefore it's only natural that they put the most extreme version of a traditionally structered, melodic piece right smack dab in the middle of a set that is the end all standard for absolute insanity, and eratic brutality. In my opinion: Genius. |

It's not grind, though. Too cohesively structured. Great tune though, second favorite Cryptopsy song. |

So, Aaron when are you gunna review their new one? I bet you'll be all over some double duty, and do a classic review of NSV in honor of the newbie in their discography.... ![]() |

Don't like Cryptopsy that much except for the insane drummer but Phobopile is seiously in my top 10 metal songs list. Awesome. That piano entrance... Totally unexpected from such a random band. |

The song is so destructive and technical at the same time, but i dont appreciate that much the growling vocals... Also is the new album any good? |

I've heard some pre-production songs... they were reminiscient of NSV. However, it's not out yet, but it's on its way. |

What's with the lyrics of Cryptopsy? It never makes any sense. |

Well, most of Mike DiSalvo's lyrics just suck cock. He wrote a few cohesive pieces for And Then You'll Beg, however. Lord Worm usually wrote satirical numbers, and some of the usual religon-attacking things, but with historical knowledge and rapier wit. Make sense to me, they do. |

Yeah, when he called his knife "Tuesday," I had an ORGASM. Lord Wurm's lyrics are BEAUTIFUL. And they make sense to the max. Sometimes he makes a short story. Like the end of Phobophile, where his lust for killing puts "him" (maybe her?) in the hands of the authorities. They've "caught" me, as they call it; My teeth and my semen have betrayed me.. Nevermore! Tests to gauge my rationale, The likes of which these feeble minds have Never seen. Basically, he's caught by police, because his teeth marks and semen (cannibalism/sodomy) link his many brutal murders, which he considers an art. They try to interrogate him, but run in circles, similar to how one would trying to rationalize with Hannibal Lectar. Rorschach blotters, My responses to which inspire fear... From my lizard side, The amoral alien speaks; "These aren't butterflies, I see a face I'd like to burn." In psychatric evaluations, he scares the shit out of the people researching him. Just read the lyrics, and take from them what you can. He's a fucking genius. |
