Who's your guys favorite Thrash vocalist?

I'm going with Tom Angelripper. I've always been a big fan of Sodom and his vocals are just too good!

Yours?

When it comes to thrash, I don't have a favourite as such , but if I have to mention vocalists whom I like more than other others in the genre, I too would go with Tom Angelripper. His thick accent has a kind of appeal. Mille Petrozza's wicked vocals are another that I enjoy. Overkill's evergreen Bobby Blitz and Sadus's Darren Travis are pretty vicious too.

That spot belongs to Chuck Billy from Testament with Joey Belladonna a close second. But if we're talking thrash frontman (combo of voice and performance), I would pick Bobby Blitz from Overkill. His live energy is still untouchable in the thrash game.

Mille or either or the Chucks. James Hetfield was one of the best singers on the planet from 1986 to the early 90's before a singing coach ruined it. He is is example No. 1 that vocal instruction is the most unscientific, incompetent and ignorant profession know to man. They simply do not understand the first thing about what they teach yet tell everyone their services are invaluable. Cold Reading in the vein of John Edwards is actually more valuable to society than their brand of bullshit.

I would add that Hetfield started singing differently after he blew his voice out on "So What?". The change was more than likely a bid to preserve his vocal chords moving forward. Listening to Metallica live you can hear him revert to the old style here and there. But whenever his voice starts to strain a little, he stops immediately and goes back to Hetfield lite.

I think the rest of the universe disagrees with you on that one, buddy.

Solid pick. By Inheritance is a massively underrated thrash record and should be up there with anything the Big Four put out. But is it just me or does Rönsdorf sound strangely like Minoru Niihara from Loudness?

Darren Travis

Prime era Sadus is probably the best thrash to ever exist, nothing really comes close in terms of musicianship, speed, intensity, and power to the first 3 Sadus.

Chuck Billy is awesome, especially when he goes a bit closer to death metal.

i also really like Robb Flynn, for both clean and harsher vocals. hell, even his rapping in "from this day" is ok for me.

Hetfield, am i the only one who thinks he sounded way more awesome on those 80's live videos (and even some modern ones) than on the older albums? he did kick ass in AJFA and the black album tho.

Would love to see the band reissue the '89 Seattle gig from Binge and Purge on it's own. Still my favorite live release from those guys.
