DT with releases such as Damage Done, Character and Fiction, left a huge mark on me; a tremendously positive one. The aforementioned albums have been on rotation for as long they have been released without being tiresome. These albums having aged well can be called classics 10-15 years from now. So what do you think about DT in general. Their new material versus their old? Any favourites? And why? Discuss their lyrical concepts and Stanne's most great vocal deliveries.

Dark Tranquillity is a great band. I don't listen to them a lot anymore but I recently saw them live and they were fantastic, even without a bass player. They also were at the first major metal concert I attended as well.

Any thoughts on their last album?

Quality band, I respect their later material (unlike In Flames), but I still greatly preferred the first 5 albums.

Stanne is quite talented, and I would have liked albums further in the direction of Projector with his clean vocals and less standard song structures. Sadly that didn't happen, maybe someday.

Have you listened to "The Construct" their latest release ? It's got a lot in common with projector,
and to me that was a big plus. State of Mind, What only you know, Uniformity should all be in your wheelhouse!

Dark Tranquillity has been for a long time my favorite metal band.
They have always delivered quality. For me, their highlights in term of albums are
The Gallery, Haven, Character and most recently the Construct.

Personally I believe their new material is as good as anything they have done before.
It just hasn't evolved as much on Fiction and We are the void. The construct, in my opinion broke the mold by being a mixture of sound from the previous two albums but focusing a lot on the sound found on Projector. Less punishing and visceral with lots of clean vocals, the music is more focused on building atmosphere and rich sound textures. Yet they still have maintained the classic DT sound on most of the album. I saw them live this past winter on their Construct tour and the new songs sounded astonishingly amazing. Favorites of mine from the new album are State of Mind, Uniformity, The Silence In Between, Endtime Hearts and What Only You Know.

Thanks, I did listen to those. Great to hear some clean vocals from Stanne again! Preferred Uniformity the most of out all those 3, now if they just do a bit more experimenting with song structures again.
