Post subject:  EXODUS NEW LINE UP

As widely expected, veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS have now officially announced the addition of guitarist Lee Altus (HEATHEN, ex-DIE KRUPPS) to the group's ranks. "Lee has been a great friend of mine for many years and is also one of the greatest guitarist I've had the pleasure of knowing," EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt said in a statement. "He was not only the best guy for this job, he was the only one. No one else was ever considered. His leads are totally ripping on the new album and I am looking very much forward to working with him on new music soon. He is a rhythm crusher as well as a shred machine so things are going to be heavy as hell! We start rehearsals Wednesday and I can't wait. My moving is done and I am chomping at the bit to get the show on the road."

EXODUS recently parted ways with guitarist Rick Hunolt due to Rick's desire to concentrate on his family life.

As previously reported, EXODUS have set "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" as the title of their upcoming album, due on October 5 via Nuclear Blast Records. Recorded at Trident studios in Pacheco, California and mixed by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY), the follow-up to 2004's "Tempo of the Damned" is the band's first to feature Altus, ex-SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph and new singer Rob Dukes.

I'm looking very forward to the new album. Altus is one of my most fav guitarists. I hope Rob Dukes's vocals would kill, i never was a fan of Zetro anyway.

Andy Sneap? Oh fuck, I smell bad groove-thrash.

Lineup is good.

While the album is something I will be interested in, it really shouldn't be under the name Exodus. Gary Holt isn't even a founding member. I understand their situation, since they were set to carry on without Zetro, and then two older members departed one at a time during the pre-production of the new record. So while I don't blame Holt for keeping the Exodus name, I don't agree with him.

Although Rick Hunolt's departure is certainly sad and he will definitely missed, they couldn't have found a better replacement than Lee Altus. As long as he also continues in Heathen, I'm happy with this situation.

I haven't been following the band much lately, but I just hope the new guy isn't as terrible as "Zetro".

I love that line so much.

I'm not even gonna vote since I still need to buy Tempo Of The Damned before I give a general opinion of Exodus.

Lee Altus can't be bad news. Heathen? Angel Witch? Awesome. I don't know what to expect from this new vocalist, but I didn't like Souza's performance on Tempo of the Damned, it sounded kind of forced, although he was great years ago. So hopefully this new guy will have some of that natural pissed-off quality. I'm really looking forward to this album.

Souza's vocals on Tampon of the Damned were awesome, such a shame he left/got fired.

To me, Exodus only released one GREAT album, the rest are just good. Exodus went to a different direction after BBB, imo. :)

I agree 100% with that statement.

BBB is indeed the band's only classic, but I do consider Pleasures of the Flesh and Fabulous Disaster to be quite awesome as well.
