What use loving? What use hatred? Nothing is immortal.
Why give seed, remake life just to watch it fail?
Why give your soul, only to be taken away?
Better to keep what was given to yourself and die whole.
As for those that turn against you, why bear a grudge?
In the emptiness their punishment awaits them.
Harsh words these are indeed from one that hoped for redemption!

Carnifex. Pretty impressive, but I was expecting that. IMO, Strict Nine Seven Gates is the best work in this competition so far. Its ending kills. Those lyrics are something Dark Tranquillity would do, they somehow remind me of Hedon, was that an inspiration, Carnifex?

Thank you. The ending is Kabbalistic, it refers to God's emanation of the universe via the ten sefirot; in Kabbalistic traditions, "God" is usually referred to as "Ein Sof," which means "infinite" or "endless."

When I said "those lyrics are something DT would do" I was actually reffering to the whole poem, not to the ending, and especially to the first verse.
