Wow!! Arch Enemy sure deliveres the goods with Doomsday Machine. Heavier and darker and even more melodic than Anthems, this album establishes them as the top melodic death band. The production is the best I've ever heard! Check it out. |

Haven't made up my mind on it yet. Certainly sounds better than Anthems so far. |

CD is good, has some awesome songs, some one's I was indifferent to. Much better than Anthems. The band sounds the best when they're playing really heavy and aggressive, didn't like the melodic sections as much as I did on Wages. Vocals were impressively good though, which I was surprised about. Very good production values. |

I'm really anxious to hear that album as well as nevermore's, but they'll only be available July 26th in Canada. It's nice to hear positive comments about it! I really loved Wages of Sin, Anthems was ok. |

I'm not fond of it. I guess I'm too old fashioned, sitting in my rocker, wishing for the good ol days with Johan at the mic. |

I always found his vocals sounded forced and strained. I have found this is one aspect of harsh vocals I will probably never get into, even though most of what I listen to nowadays is harsh vocals. |

Johan has some of the worst vocals I've ever heard, but there's something weirdly endearing about them! Hahaha. I like Angela's vocals on this new one much more than on Anthems. They either put a little effects on her voice, or she's using a different mic with more compression or something (sounds like a mic change). All I know is this album is better than Anthems. It's not an amazing album, but it's very, very good. Well worth the money. It's been getting some pretty shitty reviews, though. Too many reviewers can't objectively review a band when they evolve in sound. It's unfortunate. |

I fail to see any sound evolution in latest AE. Well, to each his own. |

They sound more 'corey to me. And why it is that all the 'melodic' bits in melodeth sound the same? |

Because they're all ripping off the same Maiden riffs? |

And it isn't? Melodeth bands are very similar to each other, admit that at least. |

I thought "Doomsday Machine" was great, much better than "Anthems." I don't understand why people say it's core-y. I certainly can't hear any such influences. |

Maybe it was the fact that the radio show I heard it on plays quite a lot of 'core. I only realised it was AE after the song when the guy announced it. Researching further hasn't made me much more impressed by them. Maybe after 100000000 or so listens I'd like it, but life is too short to be wasted by doing that when I could be listening to something I actually enjoy. |
