Sounds pretty good. Can anyone recommend some other albums, as in, where to start? Has Hypocrisy changed a lot from the beginning? I'm not a fan of the fast songs but the slower more "crushing" ones sound awesome, great atmosphere simply put. |

It amazes me that so many people slam In Flames but not Hypocrisy. Granted, Virus is heavier than what In Flames are doing now, but goddamn are there some serious similarities. There are groovy metalcore breakdowns, a sever lack of solo work, and just about everything else In Flames does now just without the clean vocals on most of the songs, and done heavier. I love this CD, but Hypocrisy are straddling that line. As for suggestions, Phyr, I only own this one and Arrival. I can't comment on their earlier work. Arrival is good and I'd say it's slower, so you may dig it. |

Ok, thanks. As for In Flames I can't comment since I've only heard Clayman and some other songs from some albums. They've been pretty good though. |

You have totally lost your mind. Hypocrisy's recent output can only be compared to In Flames in that they're both of the same genre and feature raspy vocals. Can you imagine In Flames nowadays writing a song like Craving for Another Killing? Virus is more similar to classic Hypocrisy like The Final Chapter and Abducted than it is to In Flames. |

I also can't comment on their earlier stuff, as I've only heard one song off something other than Virus, but Virus is awesome. Ditto on what Dead Machine said. |

I am just saying that a lot of what people complain about when it comes to In Flames, I can hear on this new Hypocrisy album. |

I complain about the terrible clean vocals, boring stale songwriting, and usage of synths where there's no need. Where's this on Virus? |

Stale songwriting is subjective, but I wasn't specifically referring to you when I said "people." |

Hypocrisy dont have metalcore breakdowns lol "Scrutinized" has a serious metalcore breakdown. "Fearless" is no different than some of the stuff In Flames has been doing lately, nor is the majority of "Incised Before I've Ceased" and "Let The Knife Do The Talking." Then there's "Living To Die" which is quite like what In Flames has done on a few songs, only with less annoying vocals. I'm not saying Hypocrisy are doing exactly what In Flames are doing, but I firmly believe that Hypocrisy are straddling that line on Virus and they've dabbled in A LOT of that stuff In Flames is doing. Still a badass album, though. ![]() |

I just gave clear examples, shall I now pick an In Flames song from one their last three that sounds like those songs I listed? |
