Post subject:  Bands that changed their sound to black metal

There are many bands out there who start as a black metal, but later shift their sound to more "mainstreamy" one (Industrial, Heavy, Prog...).

Now, I have nothing against band's evolution in general (though it almost always sucks...badly), but I wonder, are there any examples of the opposite? Bands that started as prog\heavy and shifted to black?

Not exactly black, but the norwegian Shining took an interesting path.

I can't think of any bands that started as one thing then went black metal. I could name a shit ton of bands that played black metal and became something else but as for what the op asked for I can't think of any. If I do I'll def let you know.

Well there's always the case of bands like Salem Orchid who would change out a few members and rebrand themselves Akercocke after they got tired of Thrash.

I guess it's a good indicator for getting old.
If someone always liked BM and suddenly doesn't feel like he wants to listen to it anymore, ever...he has officially become an old fuck

I believe UK's De Profundis is one band that changed from doom to black metal.
