Just been listening to these guys on Youtube. Not bad melodeath at all! They can actually be quite heavy which is something that a lot of melodeath guys miss. Very cool riffs. Anyone else here into these guys? EDIT: They covered Edge of Sanity's Black Tears! Whoa unexpected! EDIT2: Also why do people call this Metalcore? Sounds like fucking Melodic DM to me? And way more melodic DM than say In Flames or even Dark Tranquillity (whom I like). |

They have an obvious hardcore influence, but I agree largely with you that they are melodic death with hardcore influences. They've covered Merauder for gods sake, and I agree they are a good band, Antigone and Deaf to our prayers are great albums. |

At The Gates had an obvious hard core influence too! ![]() ![]() I'm definitely loading up on some Heaven Shall Burn next time I do a CD purchase. Every song I've heard so far has been a winner. |

One of the first metal bands I ever heard actually. Antigone I remember hearing it on iTunes back in the day. |

The sound's there with the borderline screamed vocals and in the stripped down sound of Slaughter of the Soul (more hardcore than Thrash). And a lot of DM was also hardcore influenced including Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Dismember, Entombed etc etc. |

Finally some love for these guys! They got me into harsh vocals so I'll always have a soft spot for them. I'd say Antigone and Iconoclast are their best. I can see why people would call them metalcore because they do have some hardcore aspects to their sound as was mentioned but I just describe their music as very heavy melodeath to other people. Dead1, if you like this you might like Neaera too. Definitely check out their album Armamentarium. |

The stripped down sound on Slaughter of the Soul just reminds me of thrash, I don't hear the hardcore. You could argue that on their earlier albums they are even further from a distinct hardcore influence and imo that is where it would show up if anywhere. |

Hmmm I remember not being impressed by the single off of Iconoclast for some reason many moons ago. |
