Post subject: | Terrible Certainty vs. Extreme Aggression |
So I was listening through the first four Kreator albums the other day and decided to read some different reviews on them as I did so. While reading I noticed that a lot of the reviews out there for these two albums in particular seemed to hail Terrible Certainty as clearly superior/more complex and "mature" than Extreme Aggression. I found that perspective a bit weird cause I've tended to view TC as the "weakest" (which isn't saying much, cause it's still a great album) of the first four Kreator albums, and Extreme Aggression has always just seemed more complex, technical, aggressive (obviously) and coherent than TC to me. TC is chaotic but in a different way than Extreme Aggression, and I find it has less memorable riffs than Extreme as well. Just wondering what others thoughts are on these two awesome albums. |

I voted Terrible Certainty but both albums are pretty much on par. Actually, I think Coma of Souls is the peak of their discography. |

Yeah, well that ain't an option! ![]() ![]() @TAF, what bumped TC just ahead of EA for you? I'd rank Kreator albums as: PtK Endless Pain Extreme Aggression Terrible Certainty ... Everything else... lol Meh, seriously, they've regained their "kick" a little the last few years, but nothing like those first four. But back to Terrible Certainty and Extreme Aggression! Thoughts? |

I dunno... I love Extreme Agression which actually was the first album by Kreator I was able to get into... Maybe I just listened to it too much and got tired of it while Terrible Certainty still sounds fresh as I have not overplayed it. Also, there's something mysteriously hypnotic about TC that I'm at a loss to explain. |

Terrible Certainty no contest, Extreme aggression is decent and overall better than the garbage on Coma of Souls. But when I want to listen to Kreator, I want to get my ass kicked not bored because of filler. |

Also, there's something mysteriously hypnotic about TC that I'm at a loss to explain. I'm pretty much with you on this. I listened to EA way too much in high school that now it's a little hard to get through from the beginning to the end. Not that I don't enjoy it, it's just, i've heard it all so many times. But still, I pick EA over TC. TC is still awesome though. Toxic Trace is awesome. So is Blind Faith. |

Extreme Aggression. There's some sort of manicness on this album that they never had before or after. It's the type of album that makes you want to repeatedly stab someone in the jugular with a home made shiv. Good stuff! Terrible Certainty is awesome though. However my pick for early Kreator is Endless Pain. It's quite a gutteral and visceral album. In fact Endless Pain is my favourite Kreator album of all time. |

To TC voters: Betrayers, ignorant vessels of Fatal Energy, Don't Trust a hope, for in your last Stream Of Consciousness, before the Bringer of Torture, inflicted with the Pain that Will Last, you'll know you have No Reason To Exist! |

In fact Endless Pain is my favourite Kreator album of all time. I hear you on that "manicness." The album comes off as sounding really frantic and vicious as a whole. All of their early albums do, but there is something different in Extreme Aggression. I guess in a way each album has its own unique characteristic viciousness. Extreme is perhaps the most similar to PtK in some respects, in that it retains this unapologetic, blind raging aggression while spitting out mindboggling, insane and braincrunching riffs like its the most natural thing in the world. Endless Pain is really awesome though. If it weren't for PtK it'd be my fave. stevelovesmoonspell wrote: Terrible Certainty no contest, Extreme aggression is decent and overall better than the garbage on Coma of Souls. I feel like we're not listening to the same album...Extreme has boring filler? Which songs do you see that way? |

Most of the album is intense don't get me wrong, but the songs are nowhere near on the same level of intensity as anything resembling Toxic Trace. I don't dislike the album, but I haven't played it more than four or so times, as much as I've spun my copies of PTk or Endless Pain. |

I find myself guilty of owning Enemy of God, Extreme Aggression, PtK, and Violent Revoultion, but not ever listening to Coma of Souls or TC. This should change given the fact that I wear my PtK cutoff about 3 times a month. ![]() |
