It wasn't bad. Riffage could've been a little better after how awesome Twilight ripped it.

I feel as if I could write what I just said in the Anaal Nathrakh thread. Been there, done that, but still fucking awesome. Maybe a step down from Twilight of the Thundergod, but I don't blame them. That song rocked the shit out of all their other stuff.

They've released two songs from the new album so far, and I think they both sound awesome.

No they do. Sometimes it's a good song x10 other times not so much and it's only decent.

They're the motorhead of melodeath.

I don't think I ever got bored with a band so fast. When I first discovered them I really liked it but then after hearing a few albums I just got sick of it. The new songs sound like, gasp, the exact same thing they've done since their first album. :lame:

My thinking. I like them when I can be bothered listening, but when can I ever be bothered listening to them?

I can't quite agree with either side.

Once Sent was excellent and different from all their other albums.

The Avenger and the Crusher were very similar to each other but the quality pulls them through.

Versus the World was more technical and varied in songwriting.

Everything since Versus the World I consider to be simplified, blander versions of their earlier work.

This, except for the last part. The last two albums were awesome but I'm afraid that if they don't change their sound a little bit this album might bore me quite easily. Wait and see (hear) I guess.

Seems like its gonna be a good album but not as good as the last two albums which is disappointing.

I have given it some listening, and personally I think it is better than Twilight, though not up there with Oden. Musically it is less polished than Twilight, which I thought was a bit on the squeaky clean side. Funny thing is, I just got through doing a phone interview with their drummer and he thought the same thing. Ill be posting the interview later in the week, but personally I think its a strong album. Nothing that will change your mind if you didnt like them before, though.

I agree. I preferred With Oden on Our Side to Twilight. This band never gets old. Who cares if they're formulaic, it's the best music to work out to. It can get you fired up for anything. =p

I've only heard War of the Gods, Slaves of Fear and that SOAD cover so far. Really liked WotG and SoF and in a way kind of remind me of a mix between the older, rawer stuff and the later more melodic stuff. I hope they don't end up polishing those two songs up very much. The SOAD cover was really...bland and no clue what possessed them to cover such a boring song.
