Yeah when I went crazy a couple years back I deleted my whole 150gb music collection and didn't listen to any music for like a year. So I only have a few albums on my computer, anyways, I need some black/death/thrash metal recommendations.

bands I've been listening to a lot of recently include

Satyricon
Gorgoroth
Mayhem
Dimmu Borgir
Venom
Darkthrone
Nine Inch nails
Watain
Shining

I've been listening to metal pretty extensively for the past 7 years and I know most of the notable bands I'd say but I'm looking for some shit i may have missed or maybe an old album that I can't remember listening to. Not really into slow depressive black metal either.

Not considering the most talked about bands in this forum, off the top of my head, Epoch Of Unlight, Usurper, Sadistic Intent and I know I might have posted this a number of times, but I just think Aeon Sky by Sanctus is a brilliant album. That's all I can think of now.

Pretty sure you were championing French band Osculum Infame years ago husker. Great black metal band (and they aren't DSBM)

Yogth Sothoth (Unique and incredibly atmospheric death metal)
Denouncement Pyre (old school black/thrash)
Incantation (this band needs no introduction)
Coffins (death/doom heavily inspired by Celtic frost)
Catasexual Urge motivation (just something else)
Goatsblood (Intense, rapid, and misanthropic sludge/grindcore)
Cult of Daath (the epitome of old school worship, black metal highly reminiscent of Celtic frost, great stuff)

If you like Watain there is no reason you shouldn't like Behexen or Merrimack, and Throne of Ahaz.

A little surprised to see Steve rec Cult of Daath.
But, I concur with that recommendation; black metal done in the old way, therefore the best way.

Also of note is Black Funeral - Empire of Blood (his post EoB output is not very interesting, so I'd avoid it); very traditional raw black metal, though not for everyone.

Pretty much everything on NWN is something I'd imagine he'd like, with the exception of the homosexual depressive acts on the label. I'm sure he'd love that label, especially since everything on it is relatively inexpensive to purchase.
