Hey guys, Im currently expanding my bm collection, and am in dire need to fulfill this niche of bm. Do you guys know of any bm bands that play faster paced tempos but have prog or experimental aspects of their sound? |

Absu - s/t. Sauron demo. Aura Noir's most recent one. The progressive part throws me for a loop because you need Destroyer 666 but it's not progressive really. |

Don't know about progressive, but I can help a bit with the thrash aspect... and I mean a little because their is a paucity of black / thrash out there Witchaven Flagellator Sauron Maniac Butcher Fimbulwinter Impeity Fiend Deathhammer Morbid Urn (a bit of a hit and miss, though) Korgull the Exterminator's newest is pretty tasty Some of those bands lean more heavily towards black, but they exhibit some thrash traits as well, especially Epitaph era Maniac Butcher. |

Crionics seem to fit the bill. I think the topic description perfectly sums up cerebral fix, even though they kind of pre-date black metal and are mostly a thrash band. It's not too proggy, but definitely experiemental. It's every genre of metal in one record "Tower of Spite" |

Maniac Butcher,Witchaven, Urn, Flagellator, and Impiety are bands I'm aware of, with Urn's Dawn of Devastation being one of my newer favorte bm/thrash albums no thanks to you introducing them to me. Great stuff, I need to check out Flagellator now. |

Ermm....Bathory circa "Under The Sign of the Black Mark" or "Blood, Fire, Death" anybody? It's definitely Thrashy, it's definitely got a progressive streak and it's influence on Black Metal is undisputable. ![]() |

Vektor - Black Future This doesn't really fit the bill, as it's just progressive thrash. But it does have very BM sounding vocals. And it's kind of a masterpiece, so you should check it out anyway. |

I don't know about the progressive aspect (which shouldn't even exist in this genre imo) but otherwise there are tons of cool blackened thrash bands out there. Some were already mentioned, I would add Desaster, Bewitched, Evil Angel, The Battalion, Assaulter, Nocturnal, Toxic Holocaust, Razor of Occam, Necrodeath, Gospel of the Horns, Wastelander. Best one ever is still Destroyer 666 though. |
