While Polarity has been out for quite some time as of now, with regard to their second album I believe it pales in comparison. The fusion of wondrous melodies, Chuck Schuldiner inspired virtuoso guitar work, with masterful songwriting leads me to relegate it as a modern classic. But I was curious as to what my fellow forumites thoughts were, do you believe it to muster well with the albums it is influenced by, or just another technical death album bound to be forgotten?

I loved DBW but haven't heard the new one. I wouldn't expect it to be as good anyway. I'll check it out eventually.

Diminishing is a fantastic piece of tech-death. Polarity is also pretty good, but a step below.

Their first album was solid if not a bit boring, they don't really sound anything alike though with the exception of the Suffocation riffs. Their is a heavy Death influence on their newer stuff, and they can really write some excellent riffs.

DBW is an outstanding album. The rhythm section is more skilled than most Death albums, but nothing they do will ever equal Schuldiners work.

^ Yeah I love it, great album. And there isn't much that rivals Schuldiner's work so yeah, that almost goes without saying :).

I don't understand why this album gets compared to Death so much.

Ya I don't think its overly similar to anything Schuldiner did. I guess it gets compared a lot because both are tech death that incorporate a lot of melodies and a strong sense of songwriting. I'd say they both have a very distinct sound though.

They have very differing sounds but the concept they use is similar.

They're pretty good and it's a solid album that I listen to every so often but I'm kinda over tech death right now. Sorta.

I liked Polarity better. Probably because I heard it first.
