Expressive of lameness. As for Lifelover, never really got into them - James reviewed a couple of their albums and liked them.

Well, Dead of Mayhem mutilating himself was probably not just for show, since the guy blew his brains out eventually. Such crippling depression can make you do such things, but today bands use it for the shock value.

Yeah but its not like its fake or anything, you definitely still have to be pretty fucked to do something like that. Definitely lame though.

Obviously, Dead's actions probably weren't a gimmick although it was used by Euronymous as one. Slicing yourself during a stage performance would be fucking intense but if you're doing it every night it is obviously going to dwindle in shock value.

This is true. It is said people that cut themselves do it for the endorphins that are released as a result. It is much much common in women because they have a higher tolerance for pain so the net gain is greater.

Those are some pretty deep cuts, so they have my respect and repulsion at the same time.

For those of you feeling frisky, chunks of sharp glass work best. It cuts clean, shallow, almost painlessly and leaves a scar for months. These guys have got to be using a "blade" like a wrestler would make where it is taped off so it can't cut very deep. If not they are asking for it.

Got drunk one night we were partying a little too hard. I felt like a moron afterwards and think this sort of stuff is ridiculous and proves nothing. I was doing it in a wrestling context, not a pathetic loser one, so I don't think i'm being a hypocrite here.
