I'm really enjoying the past two Misery Index albums. I'm gonna get Retaliate and Discordia, but I'm looking for other bands that play in the same style. I enjoy the more death metal oriented Napalm Death albums also. Recommendations? |

Internal Bleeding epitomize this style of music, though mainly in the NYHC beatdown style. Voracious contempt and The extinction of benevolence are all heavily Suffocation influenced tech death/hardcore influenced brutal death metal. Jungle Rot Another death metal band with an overt hardcore influence, Butcher the weak is my prime example. The production is a little dry but once again it's another beatdown style HC form of death metal. Animosity Deathcore or metalcore take you're pick, but they incorporate a lot of different influences from technical death metal to older hardcore. Ominous As with most NYDM bands groove riffs are the mainstay, though this band has a bit of a thrash influence Skinless If you haven't heard of them they are another band that epitomize that combine hardcore beatdowns with faster brutal death breaks. Trample the weak, hurdle the dead is their best album, but From sacrifice to survival is a good album as well. Pathology One of the most accessible of the slam death type bands, the vocals are horrendous but the music is varied from faster passages to chugging grooves. Legacy of the ancients is their newest album, and I'd say it's the easiest to approach without getting lame like most slam acts. Burning Human A hardcore band in death metal clothing hehe, but a good band nonetheless they are a bit slower than Misery Index but still just as sick The Partisan Turbine The band released a self titled quite some time ago, and then subsequently disappeared. They are fairly technical and combine breakneck time signature changes with heavy breakdowns and intensity, check them out |
