So I'm a huge thrash noob. My interest in metal has pretty much been limited to only death and black metal, however I listened to Pestilience - Malleus Maleficarum not too long ago and I absolutely loved it. Also I've been listening to a ton of Coroner and that is also awesome. So I guess I just need recommendations for thrash bands that are more comparable to those two rather than the more normal stuff.

Tech-Thrash, huh? Sadus, Anacrusis, Sabbat, Believer, Voivod will make a good starting point, although the latter two can take forays off into Prog Metal.

What Zad said and I'd add:

Mekong delta.
Depressive age.
Hellwitch.

Also thrash-black metal: Aura Noir, Destroyer 666.

Add deadsea and Destroyer 666 to the list.

These might be obvious but they're my favorites.

Exodus, Sodom, Kreator, Metallica, SLAYER, Anthrax, Municipal Waste, Gama Bomb, Annihilator, Death Angel, Destruction, S.O.D., Discharge

A couple are obvious, and several others are crossover that I like. You should have fun with these.

Apart from the bands mentioned above, Sacrifice, Slaughter, Nuclear Assault, Heathen, The Crown (They've reformed. Yipeeee ! ) and Blistered Earth.

Deathrow - Deception Ignored
(as technical as German thrash can ever be)
Watchtower - Control and Resistance
(brilliant from beginning to end even of Alan Tecchio's high pitched vocals might be a bit of an acquired taste)

The man asked for bands similar to Pestilence and Coroner and people are suggesting Ezodus and Slayer?

That's a tough one, would you reckon Watchtower fits somewhere inbetween?

Watchtower aren't "normal stuff". Slayer and Exodus are the definition of "normal stuff", surely?

No real problem, I just thought he wanted a special sort of thrash rather than just, thrash.

Yes, I understood the same, so I mentiones prog or tech thrash bands, and bands that can be a bridge between black, death and thrash. In normal thrash, Tankard, Destruction, Holy Moses must be in any list.

Watchtower is really a good sugestion. Not normal thrash at all.

Yeah you got it right. I've heard Slayer and Exodus before and neither grabbed me. Perhaps I just need to get more used to thrash before those two work their magic on me. Gonna give some Voivod a spin in a minute here. Any particular album you recommend I try first?

I'd like to add:

Toxik, Watchtower (as HW already mentioned), Forbidden and maybe Xentrix.
