Which is your favorite Emperor full-length? and Why?

I love all of the Emperor albums but my absolute favorite is Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk because they where quite Black Metal at the moment, the album is very dark and chaotic while managing to sound majestic at the same time and because they started to sound a bit progressive in that album. So, it's the perfect balance of Emperor elements.

I'd go for In The Nightside Eclipse, mainly because I listened to it quite a lot when I was returning from holidays during my military service. Sitting in a bus in the night with the only sound being Emperor storming my ears, that sort of stuff.

so.. I chosed IX Equilibrium... I don't know very well the first two Emperor album but what I've heard is not as good as what the band did from this album (maybe because I'm not a BM Head)... what I enjoy in IX Equilibrium is the prog elements, the brillance of the lead guitars, the neat production & the fact that clear & black vocals perfectly match together (not to mention the great songwriting) creating the best BM oriented album I've heard so far...

Ok, first of all, I too love all Emperor's albums, but my absolute fav is ItNE of course, followed by Wrath of the Tyrant (I know it's a demo  ) and only then comes Anthems. Why? All of you will agree with me that ItNE is BM in it's pure form, while Wrath having the same atmosphere as on this masterpiece is missing some vital elements such as Emperor's "the sound wall" created with dual guitar work and keyboards themes, and Anthems on the other hand lost a part of atmosphere, but it had all the instrumental components.
And In the Nightside Eclipse has everything: chaotic and dark atmosphere, amazing instrumental work... PERFECT.

1.In the Nightside Eclipse
One of my favorite albums of all time... Probably one of the most unique pieces of music i have ever heard in my life. Songs such as Cosmic keys to my creation and times, Inno a Satana, Into the infinity of thoughts will never be erased from my mind.
The Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor.

In The Nightside Eclipse.

Raw, manic, screaming, hate-filled perfection. Nothing else comes close.

My vote goes to Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk... There is not a single track I skip or dislike on that CD. There is nothing boring or filler about it... Simply amazing!!!

I like them all but Anthems would have to be my favorite right now. I'm not sure what exactly it is about it but i like it just a hair more than the others.
