It has a bad rep for very little reason - obviously not a patch on the previous albums, but more than worth listening to in its own right. Check Blackstar out as well, the band they formed after without Bill Steer.

I sometimes think I like it more than Heartwork but then I always go and listen to Heartwork again and I'm like, nah.

It's kinda fun but I hardly ever listen to it and it's a bit tedious to get through.

yeah the second half of the album isn't close to the first half but it's still a fun listen.

I want to like it, its not that I hate it or anything, but I love their early stuff especially Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious.

While I enjoy their earlier work more, Swansong is still a great, catchy album that has its place. Not a classic IMO, but still a fun album to listen to.

I guess I need to dust off my old Carcass CD's because I remember hating their earlier stuff years ago and wanting nothing to do with it. Too many of you guys are talking up the old stuff recently though, so I might as as well give them another spin.

eh I would describe necroticism as their mid-era stuff along with heartwork and describe reek of putrefacation and symphonies of sickness as their early stuff. necroticism was definitely a transformation from the grind of reek and symphonies.

True that. My fault I mentioned "earlier" mainly in refrence to before Swansong. Its all enjoyable for me, I listen to 'em somewhat fairly regularly haha. I enjoy their music videos for Heartwork, they're cool.
