Scar Symmetry have made the track 'Noumenon & Phenomenon' available for streaming here: http://www.myspace.com/scarsymmetry

Check it out. The two new vocalists sound pretty damn good. The new CD ' Dark Matter Dimensions' is set to be released October 2nd, 2009.

I like this track a lot. I really can't wait for this album. They always have the best names for their CD's, man. Dark Matter Dimensions just sounds badass off the bat. :dio:

I'm missing Christian, but not enough to really make me dislike the two new guys. They do a pretty good job, particularly the guy behind the growls.

Not a bad track. Just seems like it's missing that little something extra that Christian was able to deliver. The clean vocals have too much of a "happy power metal" feel to them.

Pitch Black Progress and Holographic Universe rock way harder than Symmetric in Design, IMO. You should at the very least check out Holographic Universe.

Yeah. You know. When I think Scar Symmetry, I think boring. Get outta here, kid. I'd love to know of any other melodic death metal band that has had an album in recent history that comes close to touching Holographic Universe.

I think this is pretty damn great, after a few listens. Review done; scored it higher than Holographic Universe...

Edit: well, not quite.

I think you were high or something when you wrote that review and sort of passed it off as somewhat mediocre melodeath fare, when I really think SS has their own thing going on. That and you gave it an 84 when it's CLEARLY a 95 at least. :P

Can't wait for the review, man. :dio:

What, my Holographic Universe one? It was written when I was new to them, admittedly. The new one's more eagle-eyed.

Arch Enemy are rubbish these days, not an original bone in their body. They even did an Anthrax and re-recorded old tracks...

Had a little edit since I misunderstood what you were replying to...

Arch Enemy doesn't even REMOTELY come close to touching SS. They're garbage. Even the Liiva era. Ya, I said it.

I'd take We Are The Nightmare and MPE's Liberate = Terminate over the ones you mentioned, and The Absence did alright on their last release but it's nothing close to SS at all. The Absence play fairly generic melodeath death, granted they do it pretty well.

SS's first album was pretty straightfoward melodeath, but they've really done some interesting things since then.

But yeah, even those albums don't touch HU. MPE comes kinda close, I think they're amazing, but HU just has too many amazing songs.

Just my opinion of course.

And Zadius, I hate you for already hearing the album. Still waiting for a leak. =(

I prefer Pitch Black Progress to Holographic Universe actually.

The Illusionist, Slaves to the Subliminal and Mind Machine all send chills down my spine even after hearing them hundreds of times.

PBP is a solid album and I think has a lot more brutal moments and breakdowns that really kick ass, Pitch Black Progress is probably one of my favorite SS songs. I just give HU a slight edge, but not by much. :)

SS is definitely one of the best Melodic Death metal bands out there. Honestly, I think this is what Soilwork could have sounded like if they hadn't decided to suck. They sound nothing like Arsis, Arch Enemy, or The Absence. And yes, Arch Enemy is terrible.

I know they sound nothing like them, but they are all melodic death mehtull, hence the comparison as to genre movers.Say what you want, but I never hear SS mentioned at all around here, and the likes of AE & Arsis have put out genre defining classics. And in all fairness only one real life friend knows who they are and also thinks they're generic modern melo-death aping Soilwork.

I mean no offense to fans, its just I've never seen SS get so much love until now,I own their previous two albums and find them to be accessable soft & abit much sometimes. The clean vocals don't win them any points either imo, something that I personally dislike.I'm glad people are happy, but megaton worthy?Beating out AE is a matter of preference, but I'd not even think twice before grabing Stigmata & Burning Bridges,or other newer MDM bands like Be'lakor,Kalmah and Omnium Gatherum.
